They even started to make movies vise versa based on l4d2
from a content standpoint what can you add that isnt just clutter? would more weappons really add to the gameplay experience apart from affecting balance and feeling nice to use something fresh for a while no soon enough people will meta te same weapons like ak47 and if nerfed whatever is good in the new arsanel
new survivors sure but like that isnt enough of a justified reason
new infected this would be similar to weapons except it may even just harm balance as you get less consitent infected combos
and if you go by half life logic then valve wont do something without a significent purpose behind it. they require solid motivations like showing off source 2 or in hl:a case their vr headset
l4d3 wouldnt offer inovative gameplay or an technical enhancment only way i see l4d3 releasing is to sow off enchanced machine learning AI in practice (imagine having bots mimicing real player behaviours) which i really doubt will happen especially anytime soon
However I think L4D2 is a good formula and just adding more maps, infected, weapons, and QoL / Balance changes without bloating the pool would be fine for a L4D3.
