the smoker is the worst special
He is extremely easy to deny, only really able to do much to a distracted lone survivor, and has the least amount of different things he can do. His ability to dominate is nerfed extremely by how long it takes for the survivor to lose control, the survivor having to travel a distance first before even taking damage, his already low health + his high damage vulnerability when he has someone tounged, AND the fact you can just easily free a survivor without even seeing where the smoker is by shooting the tounge.

All of this is made worse by how specialized to his role he is. The tounge is basically his only option. He obviously can swipe at you, but the ai almost never does this and instead just runs away. Even the spitter gets more aggressive and drops spit on death as a small extra puddle of area denial. The smoker's smoke cloud, to compare, does ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing. It barely blocks visibility, there's no punishment for being inside it or walking past it besides not being able to use voicelines. It doesn't even have a niche use in verses.

Speaking of verses, he is a lot better there as he works a lot more as a support character and can create opennings for other specials to set up instakills or just dominations in general.

I think some fixes could be if the smoke was more thick and blinded you if you stood in it, like in cs, which would give the smoker more he could do (also if smoke blocked los, allowing for infected spawns, and possibly it blocked outlines) and, a probably controversial overall change, if special infected had quieter idle sounds which would make the auto callouts a lot more valuable.

hed probably not change much in verses, but itd make him less of an almost nothing enemy in campaign

the smoker being able to blind survivors could maybe step on the role of the boomer a bit, but i think the boomer's direct debuff to a survivor vs the smoker having a specific aoe area where you cant see would be separate enough.

Also a small thing of the smoke being flammable could be neat. Using a molotov or gas can to cover more area or something. Could end up being too easy to exploit by the survivors tho, especially in verses.

Nice to see u have been replying to yourself. lol.

The Smoker is pretty worthless on Easy, but is the only special who becomes more and more dangerous the higher difficulty u enter. A well timed smoke can end a team depending on what else is happening.

And ofc Versus. Smokers can be extremely effect at pulling survivors into cars, Witches, off ledges for a quick incap.

smoker is a supporter not an attacker lol you got charger for that role you could say the same about jockey on how its useless and easy to deny by just spamming shove youre not supposed to spawn and immediately try to grab a survivor ur supposed to work with your team to attack together going alone and doing 3 dmg isnt helping anyone

He might be extremely weak and easily to manage, he is the best SI to cap one vulnerable survivor
Tbh hes dangerous if you go melee build. I remember him getting me everytime i just go axe as a weapon

The only properly way to dispose of a smoker is
Step 1 : stand in the open with your kit in hands
Step 2 : let him pull you (watch him do crazy 180° dance moves)
Step 3 : swap to scout and last tick slefclear noscope
Step 4 : spit on his grave
