Left 4 Dead 2

Vezi statistici:
Can we please mute enemy team chat? Tired, of being called a N*****
Seriously, in 2021 we are still forced to see twelve year olds spamming the n word in chat. Valve doesn't seem to care about racism or abuse in their game.

A lot of my l4d2 friends stopped playing because the playerbase is too toxic, and giving us the option to mute the enemy text chat would greatly reduce toxicity. You can kick the griefers, separate to reducing toxicity, you have the option to un mute the enemy's voice chat. So we have a tool to reduce griefing, which makes the game bettter. And you can make the game worse by un muting cross team voice chat. But you can't make it better by muting cross team TEXT chat. So no matter how friendly your team is, your game is ruined by the other team using racial slurs and other insults that are forced onto your screen everytime a message is sent.

It just doesn't make sense, why allow people to be textually abused no matter what. But give people the OPTION to also be verbally abused. All we need is an OPTION to mute enemy-text chat. Not disable it completely, because voice chat for all is muted until you vote to un mute it. Just do the same for text chat. I shouldn't have to tape a sticky note to my screen to play with my team. Hell just let me drag the chat off screen like other games let you. I just want to use voice chat and enjoy my favorite co-op/co-op versus game in peace.

When they pop up on the screen where my teammates talk, yeah. It is difficult. There is no reason the player should be forced to read vicious trash talk from the enemy team. Toggle it on or off but forcing it on everyone is insane. League Of Legends is the second most toxic game in the world and it has the ability to disable all chat.

Then why don't you play with your friends instead? A lot of online competitive game are going to have trash talk, that's just the sad nature of humans being humans. If you don't like it, you have plenty of other ways around it. You could even block them.

The unfortunate state of the game is that Valve is the developer. They have and never will care about an experience in their online games.

Well, they do care, just from my experience the older a game gets, the riskier and more contentious changes can become.

While you can't exactly successfully report vicious in-game chats as it's un-moderated, their profile probably has something to report and is generally indicative of their in-game behavior anyway.

Sometimes, but other people obviously know that Valve isn't moderating the game but do moderate profiles. Versus is toxic so it's very easy for players to understand why this is the case.

Doesn't help that there are a ridiculous amount of ways to grief in the game. Voice chat, chat box, sprays about you know what, name-spam, shotgunning my buddies for fun, Jimmy Gibbs, etc.

If you can find the 1% of people in Versus who are friendly and 'stick by the rules', then you could probably add them and play friends-only games.

I agree muting all chat between both teams can reduce the toxicity.

But I am pretty sure if your enemy team is full of trolls, they will vote no to mute the all chat vote, therefore making it abundantly useless a lot of times.

So what's the solution? To make it permanently off?

If that's the case, then imagine the backlash these 'developers' will face if all chat is really turned off permanently.

Maybe, just maybe (and still a maybe), if the game has a system which 'detects' if everyone playing both sides are all friends, then (again a maybe), a vote will appear to enable all chat when you start the game. If 7/8 are friends, then still.... you guessed it.... maybe the vote will be still executed. Can't say for sure because it's still a.......

Either put the toggle to mute it in the options or have it off by default like cross team voice. That way as long as you have three people plus you, it can't be unmuted. I believe you need five to six votes to unmute cross team voice.
speaking of which, there needs to be an update to remove voice chat for everyone as a vote. Utterly useless. Serves only for trolling or micspam.

You don't have to imagine it, just take one look at TF2's forums once they applied the censor to ALL F2Ps to counteract the bot spamming the chat.

Oh you're actually able to speaking about something like an actual human rather than acting like a bot.

the place is a dumpster fire... pretty sure nobody even cares about daily s**tposts and spam. Ever since I was permanently banned from that joke of a forum, life feels better.
