Well, they do care, just from my experience the older a game gets, the riskier and more contentious changes can become.
While you can't exactly successfully report vicious in-game chats as it's un-moderated, their profile probably has something to report and is generally indicative of their in-game behavior anyway.
Sometimes, but other people obviously know that Valve isn't moderating the game but do moderate profiles. Versus is toxic so it's very easy for players to understand why this is the case.
Doesn't help that there are a ridiculous amount of ways to grief in the game. Voice chat, chat box, sprays about you know what, name-spam, shotgunning my buddies for fun, Jimmy Gibbs, etc.
If you can find the 1% of people in Versus who are friendly and 'stick by the rules', then you could probably add them and play friends-only games.
It just doesn't make sense, why allow people to be textually abused no matter what. But give people the OPTION to also be verbally abused. All we need is an OPTION to mute all-text chat. Not disable it completely, because voice chat for all is muted until you vote to un mute it. Just do the same for text chat. I shouldn't have to tape a sticky note to my screen to play with my team. Hell just let me drag the chat off screen like other games let you. I just want to use voice chat and enjoy my favorite co-op/co-op versus game in peace.
I agree muting all chat between both teams can reduce the toxicity.
But I am pretty sure if your enemy team is full of trolls, they will vote no to mute the all chat vote, therefore making it abundantly useless a lot of times.
So what's the solution? To make it permanently off?
If that's the case, then imagine the backlash these 'developers' will face if all chat is really turned off permanently.
Maybe, just maybe (and still a maybe), if the game has a system which 'detects' if everyone playing both sides are all friends, then (again a maybe), a vote will appear to enable all chat when you start the game. If 7/8 are friends, then still.... you guessed it.... maybe the vote will be still executed. Can't say for sure because it's still a.......
this is too difficult for gen z apparently.
She is a human... bad joke m8.
