Can we please mute enemy team chat? Tired, of being called a N*****

Seriously, in 2021 we are still forced to see twelve year olds spamming the n word in chat. Valve doesn't seem to care about racism or abuse in their game.

A lot of my l4d2 friends stopped playing because the playerbase is too toxic, and giving us the option to mute the enemy text chat would greatly reduce toxicity. You can kick the griefers, separate to reducing toxicity, you have the option to un mute the enemy's voice chat. So we have a tool to reduce griefing, which makes the game bettter. And you can make the game worse by un muting cross team voice chat. But you can't make it better by muting cross team TEXT chat. So no matter how friendly your team is, your game is ruined by the other team using racial slurs and other insults that are forced onto your screen everytime a message is sent.

It just doesn't make sense, why allow people to be textually abused no matter what. But give people the OPTION to also be verbally abused. All we need is an OPTION to mute enemy-text chat. Not disable it completely, because voice chat for all is muted until you vote to un mute it. Just do the same for text chat. I shouldn't have to tape a sticky note to my screen to play with my team. Hell just let me drag the chat off screen like other games let you. I just want to use voice chat and enjoy my favorite co-op/co-op versus game in peace.

Don't read the messages, or disable chat completely, i don't think you can disable chatting for a specific team.

I just searched it and everyone said the console command doesn't work.

unfortunately, this doesnt apply to l4d2 unlike tf2, even if its very harming for players like this, but 2 ways is just to group up with friends or just dont play versus at all

Yeah that's a great alternative. Valve shouldn't fix the toxicity of their game. The players should just take racial abuse or not play the game they paid for. Really surprised in this political climate, Valve continues to update the game and curate it. But they don't care about people being vicious in chat.

I think you are saying this sarcastically but Valve legit shouldn’t fix anything about this.

If you're in versus, you need a thick skin to play because you will find trolls 7/10 times. However, spamming annoying chats will be about 3/10 times.

Just block those scrubs and move on.

When they pop up on the screen where my teammates talk, yeah. It is difficult. There is no reason the player should be forced to read vicious trash talk from the enemy team. Toggle it on or off but forcing it on everyone is insane. League Of Legends is the second most toxic game in the world and it has the ability to disable all chat.
