Chrome is obviously better than the wood but both have better up-close special killing potential especially jockeys and hunters after shove-stops, the slower firing speed and high damage at close to mid-range is also a benefit from increased damage to common in general due to the amount of pellets that come out of the guns.
All the tier 1's have pros and cons and it just depends on the map and playstyle.
The only real con it has is that it can be hard to light gascans / oxygen tanks with it and that is does really low damage to Tanks, you often have to drain a majority of the ammo if you can't light or outrun a tank. The combo of hard to hit gascans and tank vulnerability is a bad combo too since you'll often want to use gascans to light tanks, and miss if you don't crouch. But if you do crouch you are extremely likely to be tank smacked.
Mac-10 if it's CQC
Pumps if you want your teammates to lose all their health when they get pinned.
MP5s if you wanna get bad rep
Hunting Rifle if you're a masochist who doesn't consider it a cut unless it reaches the fat
Schmidt Scout if you think the Hunting Rifle is objectively bad (which it isn't, infact being superior to the Scout in every way)
