Mouse/Keyboard Reset / Game Crash
In the last day or two, I've had to reset all of my mouse/keyboard buttons each time I load the game. On top of that, the game will stutter and freeze to a point that I have to restart my computer. Any thoughts?

Been playing or a few years now, but have never run into anything like this. Haven't used any mods, but I have been adding a lot of mods to another game; could that affect L4D2 in some strange way?

If things get worse over time, make sure the CPU heatsinks + fan's are clean. Same thing goes for your GPU + fan.

You didn't mention why you reset mouse/keyboard. And how do you exactly do this?
I have this problem 2 .. try to ctrl + alt+ delete then press taskmanager try to move with the arows untill you select l4d2 and press delete and then enter

This is exactly what happened with me. It would freeze up the game that my mouse/touchpad would not work.

I would reset my mouse/keyboard configuration each game by going into the options menu and manually assigning the buttons. It is only in tis game that I have seen problems, and only within the last 48 hours. I will check the fans and heat; however, I run much larger games and programs regularly but L4D2 seems to be the only one affected.

When you enter the game, it says to "press 'key' to play as 'individual'. Usually that is the trigger key. Since it wouldn't let me into the game, I figured out that I had to reassign the trigger key (and all others on the mouse and keyboard) just o enter and play the game. It's liek the game would reset itself every time I loaded it.
try using an autoexec that contains the non-default binds you use, so that every time the game is launched it will apply the settings. if you want further clarification, add me.

Ive had this problem with L4D2 and TF2 as well... seems to be a Source Engine thing perhaps? Started a couple days ago here as well. I play a lot of those two games, and I really hope whaver happened gets repaired soon.. Seems like a recent update to either Steam or Windows caused a fight with the system. May be an 8.1 thing, as many of the people reporting on this have this as their OS, but not all so that makes it hard to validate that as a cause.
Hopefully soon this gets fixed. Want mah zombeh fix! i7 4770k 3.5 ghz, GTX 770, 16 gb ram.. Windows 8.1.
