There's a reason why a katana on the wall is considered decorative and a fire axe is generally just there in case of a (fire) emergency.
Admittedly they may not be very strong like someone mentioned on the first page, but a well made one is sharp as feck. I'm no expert on blades, but I reckon that as long as the sword is looked after and cleaned, a katana can cut through many a zombie/infected at a very decent speed. It clearly is also a LOT lighter and precise, making it effective for anyone who doesn't have a lot of stamina and a great deal of upper body strength. Like me! And, sexism aside, women, children, etc.
Then again, what's more bad-ass than cleaving a zombie head with an axe, putting your foot on the chest of the fallen foe and jerking the axe out of it's ugly face?
I'd be happy either way, prefer katana but the axe can be used for many other things like breaking down doors and whatnot. In-game though, always the katana.
fireaxe? a freaking army. strong, sturdy, and powerful impact.
so.. you like the axe?
i deserve a gold star ^.^
source is a book on old japanese weaponry.
just give me a katana for zombies.
