Game downloading all addons again? How do i stop it?

The game is downloading every addon again, im pretty sure its because i "Liked" the addons in workshop.

How do i stop this? I will have to delete all copies and it would be annoying, so how do i stop it from happening again?

I already have the addons, i just played and they are there and working but the game is downloading them all again.

In order to keep Workshop mods from re-downloading, you'll have to move the files out of the workshop folder into the addons folder, and unsubscribe from the mods. This means you will have to keep track of Workshop mod updates yourself, but they won't constantly re-download.

had to do this recently but yeah it works only problem is the names of the mods changed a bit

you have to unsubscribe to the page after u unitsall it because it will automatically reinstall

This is ridiculous and needs fixing, I presume it looks for updates? but for some reason decides to download each and every addon regardless? why is that? why cant we tick a box to stop it? and maybe change to manual updates?
the "FIX" of unsubscribing defeats the whole objective of the steam workshop we might as well go back to downloading from Gamebanana or whatever it was called....

I know this thread will be locked eventually but there's a website dedicated to downloading the .vpks without needing to wait for them to download, which saves a lot of time. Type "Steam Workshop Downloader" and it will make your life way easier.

I think Crowbar can also download without launching the game
