yeah, i dont mind if someone shoots the cars, but i just hate when someone is dumbenough to do it on versus mode and thinks its funny.
I agree, however, I dont even mind new players jumping into Advanced. I think its a great difficulty to learn on, as long as you have common sense, basic FPS skills and are receptive to advice. My biggest problem is when these new players insist on goofing around and playing sloppily in the name of "just having fun", because it is incredibly selfish on their part. When you try and tell these players what they're doing wrong, they ignore you or insult you (The phrase "get a life" is thrown around a lot). So in my opinion, limited playtime is a factor, but personality is a bigger factor. Some selfish people who are only concerned about their fun and not thinking about others fun or improving their own gameplay are just not enjoyable to play with or be around.
normally if i join a game on any difficulty, i play serious for the first chapter, to see how they are, i like to goof off and have fun, but if they are just tryin to finish with a good score, then ill just point and shoot.
only thing i hate is when someone joins mid campaign, and decides "♥♥♥♥ you guys" and runs around alone the whole time. i like ending campaigns with all 0 incaps or deaths if i can.. so rushers are a pain sometimes for me..
The stats that my friends and I like to track and compete for are SI kills, common kills, tank damage, protects, and accuracy. We also go for least amount of incaps and usually get 0 deaths. And yes, being able to read your teammates is very important if you don't regularly play together or communicate. Every so often, we'll goof around too in small ways that don't affect gameplay, such as letting someone who failed a witch crown lose most of their incap hp, or molo each other at the end of rounds.
Indeed the selfish player ruins it for the entire party.
To be fair, its campaign only at the end of the day. If you are good player, you could always carry few noobs with you, if it was versus, you could complain all day about it and I would not have problem with it. Try to help them and tell them what to do, you should be fine at Advanced mode.
Not to mention that most noobs who have joined me in an ongoing game seem to be too mentally ret@rded (no idea why Valve censors that word, it's not even a swear) to even know how to vote "yes" or "no" on an ongoing vote. They don't listen to my advice 90% of the time and never use a mic despite this being a game that relies heavily on teamwork.
was late to saving anyone pinned.. shot every gascan even if we were standing near it, used pills when we were in the red, even if he had 50 health.. but part i am most mad about, i saw another medkit, me and a teammate were around 10 health each, i used my medkit on my teammate and went to grab the medkit, because we had to do the dark carnival running part (before finale)
he takes it and heals himself while in the green and im at about 13 temperary health..
so minute a charger got me, instead of saving me, he stayed back ad sniped.. when the next guy got pinned, he stayed back and sniped to protecthimself.. then 3rd guy.. stayed back.. then ran wrong direction whole time..
we finally beat that part.. and at the end i watch him healing.. in fire...and fireworks... then shoots a boomer infront of him..
im sorry, he couldnt be a noob.. he had to be doing it on purpose..
even my first time, i wasnt that slow, i knew fire=bad and medkits are only for when you need them..
he ran and sprayed whole game, i was in temperary health from being downed by a tank, and he kept running behind me and shooting through my body.. x.x
such a long rant.. but dammit, i wanted to punch him in the face, was too frustrating, i dont mind losing a chapter once or twice, but not when the situation is from something so stupid
Question is, why didnt you votekick him?
If fools do whatev and die it gives you the opportunity to be clutch or it gives you the opportunity to carry them through the campaign. Which is much more difficult than playing with friends who dont get destroyed by tanks or run ahead and get owned by jockeys.
i dont vote kick unless someone is a ♥♥♥♥.
he was doing stupid stuff, but all in all, he didnt talk ♥♥♥♥.
Unfortunately noobs are in the advanced games now, you say? There's not really much you can do about it. Some new players who are very good at FPS can be pretty decent in L4D2 at hard difficulties, but the majority of them just join the harder games because they think they're hot ♥♥♥♥ and don't really care if they're ruining someone else's game.
If you start adding the competent players you come across in advanced games, you can later join their games; even if you have just one other good player on your team, if you guys stick together and play carefully enough, you can be fine disregarding the other two. And if you're fortunate enough to have 2 other good players, you can always vote kick the trolls who join. I added everyone good starting on advanced and continued in expert, and now I have a bunch of people whose games I can join and not have to worry about a completely pointless game.
