I keep getting the Weather Storm effect from Hard Rain in other campaign online

I don't know why but everytime i go online, the game seem broken because there is this storm weather effect going on sometime even inside building in other campaign other then Hard Rain.

This ♥♥♥♥ is annoyingly loud because of this i have difficulty hearing the special infected when they are nearby. Although it can be fixed by hosting a game, i still want to join random sometime and have fun (even if i meet jerk sometime). Please note that this happen on both the Xbox360 and PC version and i want to find out what is causing this annoyance so i won't have to host a game everytime i want to play with people.

Try verify the integrity of game cache.

Library > (right click on) L4D2 > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache
*Keep verify your game cache until it says "All files successfully validated."

I don't think a picture would help since its just a sound effect, you don't see lightning appear.

Such problems are often caused by (poorly programmed) custom maps (or sometimes other kinds of mods). Unsubscribe from all custom maps und check if the problem is solved. If it isnt, unsubscribe from -all- of your mods and check if the problem is solved. If it is, "re-subscribe" the mods one after another and check after every new mod if everything still works. So you find out which mod exactly caused the problem.

Of course there are also other possibilities how such things can happen but I read many times from other users who had strange problems like this because of custom maps or (other) mods.

If this method doesnt work I cant help you (but there are still more qualified people here than me). Good luck.
