Skins from gamemaps.com - -- - - - safe?

Are they generally safe to download, from gamemaps.com ?

Or full of viruses?

you should worrie about conflicts with default game. they dont have viruses.

GameMaps files should only contain .vpk files, which cannot be read without specialized software (Source SDK, GCFScape, Left 4 Dead 2), so the threat level of these downloads is minimal.

In addition, GameMaps (formerly L4DMaps) is one of the most trusted L4D2 modding sites. Anything you download there should be safe.

I would stay away from sites that are NOT Valve. I speak from experience. Years ago, I got this VAC ban from getting things from csnation.net.

I'm pretty sure Valve has endorsed and in fact added official support for L4DMaps community campaigns in the past. GameMaps has at least a history of the go-ahead from Valve.

gamemaps or as some remember l4dmaps is rather safe from having used it from quite some time now they shouldent contain any viruses from my experience

100% safe. There has never been a reported virus from there. This is MUCH better than Workshop. I get all my mods from gamemaps.com

Yes, much better. Unlike l4dmaps, workshop doesn't really have any moderation, and is overpopulated with amateur modders who are both susceptible to releasing corrupt mods and unwilling/incapable of checking each others' work. Usually when someone on here complains about some problems with their mods, it's a workshop mod that is the problem. If you're worried about your mods ruining your games, go to l4dmaps.

On a related note: As far as I know (and like others have already said), that website is safe (GameMaps.com/L4DMaps.com). It's where I have been getting most of my mods ever since the game came out and I haven't had one single problem with viruses.

It's a legit/safe source to get L4D goodies.

I have used l4dmaps aka gamemaps for 5 years for my l4d2 game and never once got a virus. So its safe. Download away and fill your hdd up with mods. I have downloaded over 150 gigs of maps and mods on l4dmaps and still using it lol.

Seems like alot of people was vac banned for trying to mod counter strike. I guess the game sees skins as a cheat hence the ban. Alot of people i have talked to said that they just added a gun skin in and was vac banned for it. So i don't know why counter strike games does this for and ban people for using gun skins. I think it's lame.
