Infected spawning distance suddenly become extreamly far
I just encountered this just now.

All infected suddenly must spawn super far from survivor.

Example : No Mercy Map 1 , Boomer is at the lowest level ( Alarm clock area)

Survivor is upper floor and still need to walk pass 1 more door to reach the hole.

You are too close cannot spawn.

No mods, no plugins , just local server.

Happens randomly for entire match

It is a native problem of left 4 dead, only way to solve is by setting a fixed distance to the infected can spawn, final maps sometimes tend to change these values​​.

hmm, I see ....after restart it fixed itself ..

But it happened more recently for like 2/10 games I played. Making the game frustrating ,,,,

On my server I use sourcemod with 2 commands that solve this problem by making the fixed spawn on all maps (both time and distance)
Because I also felt kind of unfair, sometimes you reborn within 18 seconds, and sometimes 30 ..
I know that the waiting time is associated with the lifetime of the infected, but in today's games, no one can lose time, making all spawns 30s

"just local server" that explains the most, either the host made some command in console which make the zombies not able to spawn close. And if its you who made local server then dont freaking make local server and go with official server -.-

we were playing LAN and I was the host , nope.....din't change any command or install mods.

Guess sometimes the config get bugged out ...

In fact explains nothing, and I admire a guy like you do not know about that bug.
Some places do not have that option (to play on official servers)

Yup , my area the official are always full or being hogged by same players for hours haha

We from Brazil dont even have any official.

When i create a local server with or without sourcemod the spawn distance of infected in versus is broken.

Hi, i got it.
z_spawn_safety_range : 550 : , "sv", "cheat" :
z_finale_spawn_safety_range : 300 : , "sv", "cheat" :
I use 300 on those, its the distance from survivors allowed to spawn.
z_ghost_delay_max : 30 : , "sv", "cheat" :
z_ghost_delay_min : 20 : , "sv", "cheat" :
That one is the time infected must wait before respawn, i use 20 on pubs

Thanks. I don't understand why it breaks in the first place, but it seems to works now when adding that to the server.cfg
