"THIS IS WHERE THE FUN BEGINS" achievement suggestion.
Played some survival once in a blue moon and caught Nick saying, "It's getting good." So instead of such a simple, bland achievement name, why not directly quote the game?

Because the achevment name is implying that Its only once you reach 10m that survival begins to get good (because any survival player just only cares on reaching like 1 hour of survival time or longer if possible) Completly ignoring that most people dont even like the mode because after 10m theres legit no point in surviving and holding off forever gets boring really fast to most people

its getting good would be better due to refareing to a survivors line But the achevement name is to pretty much encourage going past that 10m mark and reach where things begin to get chaotic

most of the achievements available are reference to something. if you dont get it of course they sound simple and bland to you. for example, "Good guy Nick" is reference to the meme "Good guy Greg"; "Robbed Zombie" is a reference to the musician and horror filmmaker, Rob Zombie.

I can get that, but "This is where the fun begins" is a line that can be used everywhere and anywhere.

Yup. Jaiz and co trying to nudge people into survival with all their bogus achievements and "new and original" maps. Thankfully though, their miniscule advancements haven't changed much, only for people who like to collect achievements such as myself. That's the reason why I suggested this in the first place.

Would be too late to change anyways

and yea Its wrong to force people trying to get into a diffrent mode. I had to do all the achevments because i already finished all so i re completed everything

i wont lie haveing a few freinds And a reason and goal in mind made playing survival actually somewhat fun + i wasnt commited to 1 map for too long

But once i got the gold medals on all maps It went back to the worst mode xD

Theres no reason to survivoe so long and after the 10m mark it really dose begin to get repetitive And unless you have a goal in mind theres no reason you want to actually go that far

I guess if your up for a challenge of lasting 1 hour It works for you then yea But for me i dont see it worth while at all and gets boring really fast So by 15-20m im ready to quit once i ♥♥♥♥ up and die

This reminded of one of the people saying the phrase "Engage." said by Battlecrusiers in StarCraft is a reference to Startrek.

Only thing that made me last 20 minutes was a looping banger tune I played out of the game. Then it was good riddance once I died. Only fun thing in survival is to mess around with friends or, as you said, challenge yourself. Otherwise it just isn't fun enough to play, and it isn't rewarding enough for those achievements.

Think I'll save them for the last ones I get when I eventually complete this game.

Yea dont blame you

The new survival maps arent even balenced in any way and its clear why they went unused by valve in the first place

But it is what it is and if you want all achevments then you gotta play every map

Nobody is forcing you to play survival or 100% the achievements. It's no different to many of the other achievements in the game, there's achievements that require you to play expert, realism, versus, scavenge etc.

Whilst I agree some maps are particularly bland as a seasoned veteran when it comes to survival, they're not all bad and the 'bland' maps do serve a purpose as easier maps for newer players to wet their feet so to speak when it comes to getting gold medals.

That said, if you really despise the gamemode and do not wish to spend much time but want the achievements use admin system commands !director off and !timescale 10 and then when the timer hits 10 mins !kill <your name> do that and it only takes about a minute per map.

True But I feel like that if your makeing a full on achevement based around getting every gold medal in all the maps and if you want to actually get those achevements then you have to commit to playing every map

I guess you dont have to but in my case i have 4k hours in this game and had all achevements unlocked so the fact that i did not have all botherd me. unless you want to cheat it in with steam achevment maneger your going to have to play every map just to finish off your achevements for the game that you commited too for a long time which rather botherd me

i did have fun playing survival with freinds etc. but thats cause i was playing with freinds and had motivation behind it

lol i did all the maps etc and i wasnt here to start complaining about that achevement. i just brought it up because i find it to be one of the most grindy achevements in the game that forces you to commit to 1 mode for a very long time If you want this achevement

Ignoring setup Life interuptions Failed attempts etc it takes 430 minutes (7 hours) of in game time just to get the achevement

And from me legit doing this i found out how bad some of the maps were balenced

Some was really damn hard just because it was so open etc. and some were so easy and just had to camp in 1 spot for that 10m

Its off topic and all but that achevement is one of the most grindy and the maps werent balecned well (why i said it was clear why some went unused) by favouring infected spawns too much or survivors posisions too much

The grindiness factor is fair. It is a lot of time if you do not enjoy the gamemode and isn't particularly challenging, personally I don't care for achievements but I think just sticking with the 30 minute achievement would have been enough since it requires some rudimentary level of skill and commitment but isn't just a grind for grind's sake.

As far as the balance goes, it's difficult to balance the maps for a wide crowd. Some maps like lighthouse are a struggle to get to even 5 minutes in public games but with my friends we can regularly last 20 minutes without much effort and often feeling like we could last for much longer. Do you balance the maps around those that will briefly play the gamemode or do you balance them around those that will sink 1000+ hours into the gamemode? The irony with the achievement name too is that the fun doesn't really begin at 10 minutes anyway for survival players. The survival timers don't soft-cap till around 13 minutes and they don't hard-cap till around 21 minutes.
