How exactly do you resist a jockey as survivor?
This is something that's bothered me for far too long. I've looked everywhere and can barely get any good answer on this. Even the wiki doesnt go into detail about it.
Specifically I'm talking about versus mode here, so the spinning trick doesnt apply.

They say to resist a jockey's movements, you need to use WASD movement keys. Well, that's what I'm confused about. WHICH key are you supposd to press?
The direction key opposite of where the jockey is riding you? How do you know which direction you're even going at?

I usually just rotate my camera like someone on LSD (by moving my mouse left to right).
That usually does the trick, even when the idiot ellis bot tries to pistol the jockey off.

Is that in versus or campaign? Pretty sure you cant do that with a player-controlled jockey

Have you ever seen someone jockey and theyre seemingly unable to be resisted? Thats because theyre predicting where your camera and key inputs are and getting you to help move yourself where they want. If the jockey is moving you up, youre going to press down. So the jockey can rotate their camera around so they can push the opposite keys and continue to move you in the same direction without losing control and they can keep rotating around with their camera and keys to maintain maximum control in the direction they want to move you

I suppose it sounds harder than it is but its something ive been practicing and i have noticed a difference. You would need to match the inputs as sporadically as the other player controlled jockey's inputs but there is still only a certain degree of resistence a survivor is entitled to.

Woah, woah, woah. This is all I want and need to know:

Which keys exactly to press? By 'up', you mean forward? So if the jockey rides me forward, then do I press W or S?
Plus how do I know when the jockey rides me sideways instead? To press A and D?

Do I repeatedly tap the key or hold the key down?

Whichever direction the jockey is moving you is the direction you want to press away from, whichever direction that turns out to be.

push in the direction that you want to go. that's all there is to it. if the jockey is moving you forward, and you also want to go forward, pushing forward will get you there nearly twice as fast. if he's moving you backward and you want to go forward, moving forward will delay how long it takes for you to move backward by a fair amount.

if you're moving backwards from your own perspective, and you want to move forward, press W. you could also rotate your camera so you're now being pushed forward from your own perspective, in which case you would press S if you wanted to move the opposite direction. the directional keys work the same as they do in first person, so your inputs will move you based on your own perspective, as they do at all other times in the game.

PSA: All L4D2 specials require shoving -ahead- of time to repel them. The L4D1 specials are closer to the time they appear on your screen, especially with lower ping, but L4D2 specials all have to be ahead of time, so you need to predict the jockey ahead of its position and then shove, if I had to guess wildly off experience it would be 40-60 ms early. Yes, it sucks and is total ♥♥♥♥ but that's life really tbh
