All the ones I’ve played have been really bad
They’re obviously not meant to be taken seriously. But you can’t even mess around on them due to how unfair they are.
And they aren’t even a decent challenge because it’s not true difficulty, just random unpredictable BS and tank spam
I don’t see how a 5th version will change that
I can tell you haven't played Glubtastic 3 or 4. Also it sounds like you have a giant skill issue. Git Gud.
i think its because its unfair it makes for a fun unique experience to some, it also allows for gimmicy things that no other map can do or even be botherd to try script into a map
for example glubtastic 3 has an tank you can actually drive and shoot in and later on also has you fighting off vehicles on a train
like fair enough its not for everyone it defenetly wouldnt be but you overlooked some of things (probably didnt get far) and kinda missed the point its the unfair bs in its own way that makes it fun (probably an intended experience of playing the maps on normal)
the map is intended to troll the player in various ways catching them off gaurd for funny dumb moments etc or to introduce funny gimicy mini games you can do
they are willing to do what no other map would dare and ofc people are waiting to see whats in store with the next map
This is what my experience with it was like (from memory, it was some time ago)
First chapter had a bunch of doors. Some of them spawned infected and others let you pass through safety. It took a few attempts to figure out the safe route.
The next section has some floating platforms where you have to fight tanks. It’s really easy to fall off or get stuck on the ledge, so again it takes a few attempts to get through.
Then there’s a wall you have to climb up and it spawns boomers above you. It’s unexpected, so it ends up killing you.
On the next attempt you wait before the wall for a minute to figure out a strategy, but the map decides you’ve been waiting too long and starts spawning tanks on top of you. No way of knowing that was going to happen and no time to react, so you die.
After a few more attempts climbing up the wall, you save your teammates from the rescue closet and, surprise, opening the door instantly kills you.
You go through all that same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again just to get to the next part of the first chapter, you run away from some more tanks, then you reach the safe room.
Unless you already know exactly what you need to do and know how to avoid all the traps, you pretty much just have to use trial and error and brute force your way through it. The whole “lol funny random ♥♥♥♥ being thrown at you” factor is completely gone after the 5th attempt because I’m sick of seeing it.
Not to mention… you’re doing basically nothing related to left 4 dead 2. Hardly any zombie killing. No exploration or looting. No environmental story telling or plot or dialogue or anything. If you just want to ♥♥♥♥ around with random ♥♥♥♥, why not just play gmod?

I made that mod specifically to handle some excessive traps beyond logic on chinese trap maps like "Baka" or "Hehe" series. So it's worth a try to test on Glubtastic too
