Can he register the game on steam? If he has original key he could add the game to his library. But im not sure.

This makes no sense at all.

Your friend just needs to install Steam then add his non steam version of L4D2 to Steam. It will then become a Steam version and you can play.

A non-Steam legal version, or a non-Steam "legal" version? If your friend enters his game key into Steam from the option "activate a product on Steam" he will be able to play with you.

If that's not an option, adding it as a non-Steam game will *not* allow him to play with those who have the Steam copy, since Steam just launches the executable and doesn't actually manage anything inside the non-Steam games (they can be programs or anything).

You can always get a non-Steam "legal" version yourself so you can play with him on a local network using Hamachi or something.

I paid for L4D2 but my friend got the game from a torrent. We tried playing together but my friend always got disconnected. She told me her WiFi's great, but her signal is not good. Any tips out there to make your signal a lot more better or something? If not, still thank you if you wanted or tried to help. :steamhappy:
