[SOLVED] the game won't launch at all

i have tried everything, verified integrity, updated windows and AMD drivers, launched as administrator, reinstalled countless times and nothing

i'll click play and it'll just stay on the blue button being "stop" then go back to being the green play button without ever launching, i uninstalled for a few months and come back to it like this

ive tried the -vulkan fix but the game runs like ♥♥♥♥ that way and even that stopped working properly. every other game i have works fine, ive even tried other valve games and its still fien its just l4d2

i dont know what else to do or update pls help someone

You can try to disable steam cloud for l4d2.

Other solutions are to reinstall steam application, just do not delete steam.exe and steamapps folder. But before that you can try to clear download cache in steams settings etc.

tried all of this, still won't launch sadly

ive tried run as admin in the game folder and checking run as admin then clicking the play button, still nothing

First, clear the game configuration files by navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<yourSteamID>\550 and deleting or moving the cfg folder to reset the game settings. Then restart Steam and try launching the game again. Next, check the compatibility settings by going to your Steam library, right-clicking on Left 4 Dead 2, selecting Properties, and navigating to Local Files > Browse. Locate left4dead2.exe, right-click on it, go to Properties, and under the Compatibility tab, ensure “Run this program in compatibility mode” is disabled and “Run this program as administrator” is enabled. Apply the changes and attempt to launch the game again.

i don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ fastprox.dll is but renaming it completely fixed my l4d2 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, i just changed it to "fastprox_backup.dll" and now l4d2 works like a charm thank you so much oh my god

I changed the name name to fast prox backup too but it still wont launch

try running it in admin

I did but it doesnt work. I can run portal 1 and 2 now tho... But still cant run l4d2
