Why do modders like using zipties so much?
I really don't get why modders love to use zip-ties for their methods of attaching flashlights. I know multiple guns in the current arsenal use them, but I think that they're becoming staler the more mods I see. And I don't think that zip-ties fit all of the guns, especially the more "military" based ones. How come they don't use more unique attachment methods like proper flashlight mounts and tape?

I prefer my weapons without the flashlight. Flashlight just makes the guns look uglier.
I think the idea is that in a zombie apocalypse people would need a quick and reliable way to attach a flashlight to their weapon and not everyone would have a proper flashlight mount, tape might not be strong enough to hold the weight of the light for long periods of time while it is being moved around a lot, but a zip tie could last longer (although I feel like the light would slip out eventually). Also modders like to use it because it is already used on default weapons so it helps keep the vanilla feel, saves time researching what kind of flashlight mount a weapon needs, and if they don’t put a flashlight on the weapon it will look weird because you can still use the it even though it isn’t there.

Tape is actually pretty reliable, if we are talking about duct tape then it would make sense since a lot of Cold War guns used tape to mount their flashlight (honestly would have preferred the AK to use duct tape.) And flashlight mounts would fit more with guns like the M16 and G3 but surprisingly, I have not seen a mod for the vanilla SCAR to use the rails. Sometimes, I just want variety on my flashlights instead of just using zip-ties on almost all the guns.
I didn’t know that about duct tape being used like that during the Cold War and I can understand wanting flashlight variety.

Look up AK flashlight mounts and you'll see them and duct tape was used by both sides of the Cold War (there are lots of images of M16's with duct tape). And yes I just want more variety when it comes to my guns, I can provide a list of the mounts I would have preferred.
I’d be down to read that list.
Uzi: Proper Mount
MAC-10: Zip-ties
MP5: SureFire Handguard
Pump Shotgun: Tape
Chrome Shotgun: Integrated Flashlight Handguard
XM1014: Proper Mount or Rails
SPAS-12: Proper Mount
AK-47: Tape
M16: Proper Mount or Tape
SCAR: Rail Based Mount
SG-552: Tape or Zip-ties
Mini-14: Proper Mount or Tape
G3S/G1: Proper Mount or Tape
Scout: Proper Mount
AWM: Tape or Zip-ties
M79: Tape
M60: Tape or Zip-ties
I think each of those would fit the respective weapon pretty well.
it's criminal that the SCAR doesn't have it's flashlight railed on, especially for a modern assault rifle
Benefits of zip ties

- cost about 1 cent each, very affordable
- easy to carry around since they're small
- easy to find at any hardware store or similar place
- never come undone
- an idiot can still use them
- various other uses

Think about this from the perspective of a random survivor who needs to attach a flashlight to a gun they've just found on the street. Odds are they don't have a light that attaches to the rails properly, so they need to improvise. Cable ties are easy to find, easy to use, and well worth carrying, so it makes sense why so many guns would have them. Tape is another good option, but would wear out a lot faster.

I'm actually ok with zipties, but I don't like their overuse. And anyways, I'm pretty sure some of the guns already come with a flashlight mounted (Pistols, XM1014 and L4D1 M16 come to mind)
think most law enforcement like to use them.
1.) cheap: cost wise they are really dirt cheap. get low on them go to any dollars store buy more.
2.) easy to break out low brain cell bad guy who has no clue how easy it break out of them, lock finger together, then move hands up or down they break snap/ easy.

you can carrier 5 hands cuff vs plastic tie straps 100s of them

I'm pretty sure that they use flashlight mounts on their guns. From what I know they only use zipties for restraining someone or smth idk.
I know the possibility of the survivors mounting the flashlights on the guns themselves is a possibility with them using it to mount it to left over guns and stuff. But think of the situations where they would get it at a military armory. This is one of the reasons to why zip ties work on some guns but not others.
It's so they can justify using a donation link in their description
