Smoker has got to go! lol
Ok, so I have been playing for several months now and I'm still just as hooked on L4D2 as I was the first time I played. My favorite (I guess you call them infected?) characters are Tank & the Witch. Jockey, Charger, and Boomer are ok. Boomer is not really s favorite. I could certainly live without his ugly face lol
So My question is...
Can any of these characters be turned off in the game using the codes? I absolutely detest Smoker and would love to be able to play a game without his smoking big mouth interrupting with his long ass tongue. lol
Is there a command that can be used to keep him from spawning?
I play L4D2 by myself and of course I use the cheat codes which incidentally has really helped me play without them so of course, 1 more code would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance!

i think the command would be "z_smoker_limit 0", also be more aware. You can also try Kick Smoker to remove him temporary if you get caught by him to practice and if that dont work use nb_delete_all that command will remove all bots including survivor bots, and common infected as well from the game. Another tip use "director_no_death_check 1"
to stop the game from restarting if all survivors go down or die then you can use "respawn" to come back from the dead or if downed use "revive" to revive yourself.

Sounds like the perfect reason to master the tongue block. with the right timing you can use a slicing melee weapon to cut the tongue right before it lassos you

i seriously recommend against removing special infected. Not liking the zombies is part of the game... i would be more concerned if you LIKED getting "grabbed" by the smoker.

But if u still want it, you can just use "kick smoker" on a loop, or whenever you press a key. Here you go,:

OP are your ears ok? Can they detect noise in some capacity? Because all of the special infected including the Smoker are heavily based on sound meaning you can hear them long before you see them.

I think the simplest solution would be "z_smoker_limit" cvars on console. I'm not sure if this can be used as launch parameter like "+z_smoker_limit 0" or not, as I usually use a cfg file to register cvars instead of launch option.

There are other more complicated options, like making your own mutation where there's no smoker, & using "player_first_spawn" to detect smoker & then either changing him to other special infected or removing him.

It's not that I "hate" him. It's the smoke I hate. in RL I am dealing with a smoker/pot head living next to me and it's so bad that the smell fills my apartment and causes me to cough a lot and my lungs to feel like someone is sitting on me and this Smoker kinda triggers this crap I'm dealing with in RL.

So VIRTUAL smoke in a VIRTUAL game is triggering something going on with you in RL...

OP is clearly disgusted by even the slightest depiction of smoke. You make it sound like it's bonkers.

When something in your own life becomes harmful, you'll start to develop a type of "must be avoided" mentality, even involuntary reactions can take place.
it's part of what made our species come this far, believe it or not.

is that a bad thing? my mom has an awful smoking addiction and the smoker kinda reminds me of it which then makes me feel a little ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Right because a game that's filled with blood, guts, and god knows what else that would be more likely to have anyone feel disgusted but the thing that OP has a problem with is smoke, if this was a phobia that's one thing but it's not even that, it's just reminding them of something that to be quite honest can be fixed by moving apartments either by a few rooms down or by several floors.
Edit: oh and before ANYONE thinks of anything, I had to grow up around my parents when they BOTH were smoking to the point I ended up getting hit by their second hand smoking more than I care to count, do you see me complaining about the Smoker or their smoke even though I had similar circumstances that the OP is having with their pothead neighbor?
