So how do I play without my ip address getting leaked?
I heard local servers/server browser is less likely to get DDOSed, but found out they're still vulnerable. I haven't got my IP address leaked, but I fear that it will at some point. The only solution I heard was to use a vpn and if so, which vpn should I use (for free)?

I have probably 500 hours of hosting local servers of custom campaigns and have never had a single issue. I can't even recall any trolls, just the occasional noob.

Don't let everybody scare you out of just playing the game. Even if somebody does get your IP just reset it, it's not the end of the world.

I'll caveat this actually by saying this applies to playing campaigns. If you intend to host versus servers then your fear may be warranted. That's a different breed of players. Lol

Usually they're incorrect, like i joined 1 server who thought i was in South Philippines (Davao) when i'm actually in Northern Philippines (Baguio). But i join random server always and it's so rare to join a server that leaks your IP.

The only advice I can give you is to open the console and type this command 'openserverbrowser', then go to the custom tab in the filters; latency <= 50; region: your region; in security: choose VAC security; after that, load the servers, and choose a server of your choice. I'll leave you a link where someone explains even better than me how to do it if you don't understand. Don't forget to enable your console in the game and also to put this command in the game's launch options -console. You can also choose a key on your keyboard to open it; you write on the console bind 'c' 'console' instead of 'c', you can choose the key of your choice.

do you host to other peaple or just yourself? if for other you need a really good vpn and they will be not free.

if you just play solo with yourself i guess just firewall and set steam to offline is enough?

if you want free vpn you will gona to "trust" them aka they can know everything about your website you are visiting and maybe they can do selling data,

anyway maybe use wind-scribe they have 10gb per mont but i dont take responsibility.

You can manually reset your IP address, plus your service provider probably will lease random IPs every so often so don't worry about getting IP leaked. Let's just say if your IP is leaked, what's gonna happen anyway.
its already leaked if youve already joined atleast one of those chyna servers nothing you can do

Right now am just joining unoffical servers i find in the server browser. This seems to be the safest method to least likely have my ip leaked.

unofficial can share and store your IP with steamID best example is lewd4dead so no it depends on hoster

I've had it happen to me many times, IP reveal is just an idle threat. A number that narrows your location to a specific point that is usually tens of miles away. In short don't worry about it too much. Leave the game, block the user and move on.

They get satisfaction from your response, if you quietly leave, you don't give them attention.

If your local server runs using steam networks, you are safe..
It wont show you real ip, even if the person is watching on some network watcher.. nload and such..
