for anyone reading this and having the same problem, I managed to fix it by removing fastprox.dll from WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\WBEM\ but it was crashing after intro so I added -novid in steam l4d2 launch options and its working now!!! apparently this fix works for other source games too but I can´t confirm it

Good info. You can also try to mark your solution there with "solved" mark, so anytime people with same problem try to find a solution, they can see your solution.

If you tried everything that I said above and still nothing, try to open the game with win 7/8 compatibility mode I would've tried that if the dll fix didn't worked :/

I have been trying to eliminate that thing and it is impossible, first it sends me to ask permission from trustedinstaller then it cannot be deleted because the file is opened with wmiprvse.exe after it is opened with creative cloud core service, an endless roulette that does not bother me Allows you to delete that file, any suggestions? please

THANKS!!! SOLVED MY PROBLEM!
I just needed to gain administrator access to the file, and after that I was able to delete it.

Ok, im gonna try to explain this as simply as I can (Pray for me)

1. Right click fastprox.dll
2. Click "Properties" then click the "Security" tab at the top
3. Click "Advanced" at the bottom, another window will open up
4. Near the top there is the listed "Owner" of the file, next to it is "Change", click it and another window will open. The new window will have 3 text blocks, you need only to focus on the bottom one
5. Type your windows username (Not to be confused with your Microsoft username) into it. If you dont know what it is, you can find it in "C:\Users" on file explorer
There will be 2 folders in that directory, one titled whatever your username is and one called "Public", ignore "Public"
6. Type your username into the 3rd box, then click "Check Names" on the far right, then click OK, then click "Apply" in the previous window, and now you may close Properties and remove the file

As for "wmiprvse.exe", you can close it in Task Manager

I just tried that but for some reason it still doesn't work. It still says I need permission from the exact user I just typed in.

Alright, so

1. Reopen properties, go to security tab, click advanced
2. In the "Permission Entries" block, click the one labelled "Users", then under the block click "Edit"
3. Check the box labelled "Full Control", then OK
4. Click "Apply" and then you can close properties and remove the file

Aight, that did it. Had to constantly close Intel and Rayzer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the Task manager to finally get it deleted but now it works. I just hope nothing bad happens now.

Either way, thank you very much for the help. That was unironically the best IT support I received for my dumb ass in a long time.

I suppose it comes naturally when you spend most of your life on various computers
