Why don't people want to be healed?

I was in the safe room the other day, at the start of the Parish chapter 3 in an advanced difficulty server. Coach and Rochelle had already left, and I saw there was a spare kit left over so I decided to heal Nick since he was still with me. The guy playing as Nick immediately went idle and came back, so I thought "maybe that was just accidental or he timed out". I heal him again and he does the same thing, so I know its intentional.

I'd seen people do this before, and I wanted to see how far he would go, so I just kept trying to heal him. He kept going idle, and tried walking away from me. When he realised he couldn't get away, he hit me with his machete a few times. Then he used a bile bomb in the safe room to draw in a horde in the hopes they would kill me (they didn't). He started using chat to tell me to stop, then when I finally healed him after about a minute and a half he said "♥♥♥♥ you" and left.

What I don't understand is why he would do all that as opposed to just letting me heal him. It would've taken 5 seconds, given him more health, and used a kit that was only going to be left behind anyway.

This comes across like one of those guys who cares about the stats. U do realize that the heal isn't counted on the player who was healed, but the player who healed them right?

officer, this guy healed me in a l4d2 game without consent!

also this reminds me of that one person who claimed they got graped in vrchat, like bruh you CAN take off the headset. all theyre doing is taking away from actual victims of that stuff

nothing bad coming off from extra healing, especially when there's an extra meds just laying around

exactly, theres no downside to using an extra medkit as opposed to leaving it behind.
