Good Guy Nick achievement help

I saw this on reddit:
"You can still get good guy Nick, steam still remembers who played the game on the free weekend and you just have to play with someone who played it back then which is slim but not impossible"

Not sure if it is true, but I'd like to at least try it. Is there anyone around, who played L4D2 on a free weekend in the past and would help me to get the achievement? (I assume it needs to be someone who haven't bought the game before the free weekend.)

Hey Redshift, I'm not sure where you heard that on Reddit, but that's not true; that's probably a total misunderstanding with Ghost of Christmas Present with Good Guy Nick. When you get the game from a free weekend, you only have limited access to the game during the weekend, unlike to holiday giveaways, where you're pretty much able to keep it.

That's why you can still get the achievement by people who got the game during a giveaway at anytime, but with Good Guy Nick, you have to play it during a free weekend. I'm sorry, but you are going to wait until a free weekend happens to get that achievement, which isn't really common nowadays sadly.

You either have to use SAM or pray that they will do another free weekend because the last one was a few years ago.

No, you will know when they announce another free weekend though. SAM is Steam Achievement Manager.

SAM is well known, and I don't use it regardless nor do I achievement hunt it's there for people that are desperate enough to want unobtainable achievements or achievements like Good Guy Nick that almost never happen lmao

Most free Weekends happened during Christmas time at the end of the year, there was only one that wasn't & I think that was around Mid-Year after they ninja'd an update into the game with lots of newer features out of nowhere
