Could Nick and Ellis be related?

When Ellis asks Nick what car he drives, Nick says that he drives "your Moms car". This suggests that Nick was in a relationship with Ellis' mother at some point, and is possibly Ellis' father. This theory is supported by the fact that Nick is a gambler, most likely so that he can pay off his child support debts after he abandoned Ellis as a baby.

I love this theory.

Nick and Francis are actually members of the same gang (look at their matching rings, also Francis calls nick 'brother' in The Passing).

So, in a way, Francis is also Ellis' uncle, spiritually or actually.
