Is there a way to turn off special infected?

I'd like to try playing this game with no special infected, I think it'd be fun. Is there a cheat or command I can enter in console to achieve this?

Wouldn't you get bored if there's no special infected at all? Well, probably it would be different if you increase the number of common infected via mod like "Mega Mob" or similar mods.

This can be overridden with a cfg file like "convars.txt" from "Left 4 Bots", I think, so there's no need to set "sv_cheats 1". So if he wants to play without special infected, just register those cvars on "convars.txt" file.

I also remember a “Night of the Living Dead” mod that eliminates all specials. Makes the zombies very slow, and they can only be killed with headshots.

This worked for me. It was annoying trying to figure out the commands, because you have to launch a game from the console for this to work. I had to run these 3 commands to play Swamp Fever on realism expert difficulty with no special infected:

sv_cheats 1
director_no_specials 1
map c3m1_plankcountry c3m2_swamp; Realism; z_difficulty Impossible

You have to restart the game when you enable or disable it, kind of inconvenient but it works
