You're just playing another multiplayer game made by Valve.
Re read what you just wrote, it's clear your too new to jump in versus

9.8 hours, you're almost certainly that bad.

I would suggest staying out of versus until you can competently protect yourself in advanced campaign, then read up on some tips for playing as infected. If you xan do that you'll be leagues ahead of the average noobs and probably won't get kicked instantly.

ur first game is actually versus, the whole time?

u gotta practice in campaign first tbh because map knowledge is a big factor, when u play versus it's all about being fast. that means staying with ur teams, clearing special infected, not much item collecting unless its on the way, all while moving fast. the more time you give special infected to attack, the more damage you will take and more opportunity they have to win. as infected you HAVE attack together or else you easily be killed by a good team. obviously if someone is rushing way far ahead or way behind you can pin them with a hunter smoker charger etc but other than that always with ur team. there's too much to go into tbh but I'd recommend some youtube videos to get you on basic versus rules and even if you're not the best at VS your team will kick you way less if you stick with the team and don't lag behind.

try not to get discouraged and just know this game is over 10 years old and a new player who plays VS like campaign can throw matches easily. VS has a decent amount of toxic players but just try to learn basic VS strategy and that'll go a long way with good players that aren't toxic. But yeah, try to have fun still b/c at the end of the day VS is a lot of fun and I don't want new players to leave instantly just b/c a few toxic sweats feel superior to everyone even though they're mid 99% of the time.

People would tell you to have like 1k hours before jumping into Versus, but that doesn't prepare you for anything PvP related at all. Special spawn locations are weird in Versus, you can come from anywhere the survivors can't see, and if the infected team communicate really well they can camp the safe room for just a few minutes before eventually wiping out the survivors.

There's no way to learn unless you actually play it. I'd say if people want to complain, let them, but the kick voting thing can be really discouraging for new players.

If you want to get into it, check some YT tutorials. If you want to play Versus just for fun, that won't work unless you're in it to win it. Being willing to watch some tutorials and guides/strats can really help you with this. People don't appreciate newer players just flinging themselves at the enemy, losing all their health and having a giggle, since you screw up the game for them as well.

Generally, this is a teamgame, so do your part correctly and efficiently, and you'll have the most fun with a decent amount of success. If that's not your cup of tea, and you don't pull any fun from that sort of play, definitely consider switching to something else. I can play League of Legends and spam Q as Soraka under the enemy tower just to annoy them, dying repeatedly for fun, but that's no fun for my teammates, only difference is there's no kick system. If there were, I'd be kicked out of every single game with that mentality, guaranteed.

L4D2 is *extremely* competitive in versus mode. We're talking about an extremely old game where your average player has 5 years under his belt.

Hell, even in campaign people rush ahead nonstop. I can't fathom how it's fun for them at that point.

Hey don't worry we all have been there at some point! I recommend watching this video. It'll help understand some unspoken rules
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-kvXiZGyQ4
And remember, just play for fun and be a courteous player. There will be toxic players you'll come across but just ignore them. The only way to get better is to play more and you'll get better as long as you have fun!

If you need someone to play with add me! I enjoy playing with the new players. It's nice seeing people get into this ol' game. I been playing since release date of l4d1 and have been playing since (Not religiously but it's my feel good game lol)

You're correct, the point is to have fun however alot of people relate winning to the amount of fun they are having. Also, Generally having to protect someone who can't protect themselves let alone you is extremely frustrating.

Thats why i say get comfortable in advanced/expert so your a competent survivor, then learn some basic infected gameplay.

If you keep going in basically blind and deaf you're gonna keep getting kicked for being a liability.

Read the versus 101 guide.
Watch some videos that include how to play as Survivors and Special Infected, in Versus.
Find a single player versus mutation in the workshop and practice there.

I recommend you to play with bots in versus, there are few mods for that.
