why is Lewd4Dead in Official servers
I wanted to play some versus, then as soon as I join, "username" from "country" joined or whatever. Did they ask for my permission to show my country? No. Did I choose from Official servers only? Yes.
Edit: not only is it not an Official server, it is also a boring gamemode where the infected will always win because of the changes and the !fap feature.

also stop acting like you're special or something, this is the internet - your ip (country of provenience) is the least secure piece of info they can get from you

I am literally put into lewd4dead when I quick match for official servers

I would still appreciate having to choose whether I want to have that information to be shared or not, even if it won't result in anything too serious from happening.

Iirc, while they tried to fix it last major update, servers like Lewd4Dead intentionally try to mark themselves as official.

To my knowledge the Quickplay function was always sloppily based off of the 360 version, which didn't have any robust system to handle filtering 1st party servers from 3rd party servers, making it easy for 3rd party to get mixed in when matchmaking, intentional or otherwise.

Never use the 'Official Dedicated Only' button. There are no more programmers left at Valve to fix it.

Anyway, has there been a single unmodded vs server? I swear every single server is like a casino server full of pop up trojans filling your screen with infinite unwanted bloatware.

You'll have to create your own lobbies to be 100% sure. This is what I've been doing for two years, the downside is the extended wait-time, but there's no much else we can do.

The Server Browser can find Official Dedicated servers, but these also include 'friends-only' servers, which is not specified on the list. There's a high chance you will disrupt somebodies game.

And yeah, most servers are full of shameware. Lewd4Dead is just a classic example of how much a turd people can be manipulating the game so you connect to their servers. DLR, FBI, Yandere attack and others are also on the list.

There is no option to choose "Official Server" when looking to join games. Official Campaign does not mean Official Server. As far as I know every L4D2 server including community servers have Official Campaigns.

type "openserverbrowser" in the console, that is the best way to look for servers

the simplified server list Does not have a feature for "official only"

you can set campaigns to official only and set servers shown to only games / lobbies

but you cannot set the search options to official servers only (as stupid as that is) so meany people seem to think this and i don't know why.

does everyone think setting campaigns to official servers only or something? cause it means campaign as in "No Mercy" "Dead Centre" etc as they refer to each level as chapter. Setting said option would only prevent you from seeing custom campaigns like "Back To School" which isn't base game
