Left 4 Dead 2

Someone DDoS my servers for the past year and I cannot stop him
For the past year I am unable to play Left 4 Dead 2 most of the days during the week with other players. The reason is because someone is attacking the servers I connect to. Sometimes I am able to play for an entire day without issues.

When the attack happens "all players who are connected to the server gets high pings" and the game becomes unplayable for everyone. The attack does not stop there. It strikes every single server I connect to, forcing me not to be able to complete any campaign.

Sometimes I am able to play 3 hours before the attack atarts. Other times I am able to play a campaign or 2 before the attack starts. Its all random.

I rented my own server from GameServers.com, but they claimed that this is not a DoS attack when these attacks happened on their server. I am 100% sure they are lying.

It all started after I started streaming on my Twitch channel. I never had this issue before. I think someone from the stream knew about me and has a lot of hatred to me because of my background. So he decided to attack my servers whenever he has time for it.

I was watching another streamer, and he got the exact same issue that I have. Everytime he created a lobby and start a Versus game, his server gets DDoS, then he and his friends are forced to leave the game. He joined multiple servers and they all got DDoS few minutes after the game started.

Is there a way to prevent this no lifer from tracking me down and dosing my servers?

Here is a link for someone who claims to be able to stop DDoS attacks.https://www.l4dnation.com/general-discussion/ddos-attacks/15/

He is asking anyone who owns a server to list his server with him in a list of servers that runs certain settings that protect them from DDoS.
Call ISP and get your ip changed, if it still happens after that, the probem is on your end.

Even if I changed my IP, my steam profile can be used to know what servers I am connected to. I will call my ISP to get their advice on this because I don't think Valve is going to pay extra money to offer their customers a safe environment from these attacks that prevent us from playing.
Do a packet sniff and find the problem IP. Report afterwards.

Can I use that packet sniffer on the server itself when I install it on my own PC? Or this sniffer only works on my PC for my own connection? It is not my connection that is getting DDoS.
Anything that runs through your network can be scanned with a proper setup, Lone. After all, it's your modem that that server is going to be running through. Wish I had more info on a quick setup for this, but it'll be a worthwhile learning experience.

Just to add, if someone's fk'n with DDoS on your connection, your ISP can and will find out. This state of the internet age, it's a really really bad move for someone to be doing this. Last person I knew of doing something similar a few years back got a knock on their door from the feds (he caused all kinds of hell for server admins who could not stop him) and no one's heard from the guy since. Never thought anyone could stop his ego, but they did.

If it is my connection that the DDoS is messing up I would contact my ISP, but its the servers that I connect to that gets the attack, and the prove is that everyone whose connected to the server gets high pings and leave the game. I do not have this issue when playing Battlefield 4, maybe because this guy do not have the tools to DDoS Battlefield servers. I also host my own Payday 2 games where 3 other players connect to my PC without any lag on their side. It would be nice if I can get this person arrested for what he is doing to me. I will give that sniffer a try and see how it goes.
Sounds good. Hope you get that resolved
