Why though
How exactly do you know all the US West servers are taken up by 2/4 players? You monitorin'?
Do you know the difference between dedicated and local servers, and how could your suggestion affect the others' experience?
You can easily spot the differences if you know how to read the names of the servers. For example , Valve US West L4D 2 servers says something like this " Valve Left 4 Dead 2 US West ( srcds12345 ) " This may not be 100 % correct word for word & number for number. But you can easily tell which ones are the Official Dedicated.
I think Rusty perfers Official Dedicated. So he used the server browser to locate & connect to the one he wanted with the best ping / latency for him. Which by this itself I don't have a problem.
It's when he found a Official Dedicated & invaded a Frineds - Only game when he was NOT on any of the Steam friends list of the current people in that server is where the vote kick & problems happened. Which is still his own fault I.M.O. He thinks he is entitled to use ANY Official Dedicated server. Even when he is not invited. This CAN happen. & I have witnessed & experienced it as well.
You didn't get my last two points anyway. It's not about the name difference. The OP is a weirdo.
Join servers with 1 or 3 players, since most people just play with 1 friend. Or deal with a bit more lag and use the default browser. Or just find a different server instead of getting upset. It's really not a big deal. You had to sit through a 30-second loading screen, cry me a cold stream.
What, are you really so sore that someone was able to make basic observations about how ignorant your questions were, that you had to get snippy with them and insult me when all they were trying to do was help? Low blow.
I very poorly expressed myself in my original post, as I agree with your statement. I think my issue is more directed at Valve for failing to implement safeguards that prevent people from joining their private game, or any sort of indication of games being private. It's not like I'm feeling entitled rage that a private game would DARE kick me out, but rather frustration over the fact that I was given access to a server that I would ultimately have to leave immediately anyway. As of now, the only way to tell if a server is safe to join is to look for players with uneven join times. This has also gotten me kicked.
- DON'T use Quick Match. I personally hate it.
- start your own lobby. That way you can set a Public Game or Friends - Only game yourself , as well as the campaign & difficulty. That way people can freely join if it's a Public Game. & only people from your friends list can join if you set it to Frineds - Only game. Once the game has started though . . . then it might be a crapshoot. If a unwanted person joins your Friends - Only game , then vote kick them out.
If you use the server browser, you run the risk of entering a friends-only game. If you don't want to run that risk, go through public games like most do.
Lol nub.
