It will just be 4 random people who mysteriously meet up that won't be shown or explained.
My reasons for believing this: character replacement mods in the workshop are very popular, something I think Valve will have taken notice of, and if other games in the Valve library are any indication they like to change things up to keep their games current with trends. CSGO is similar to CSS but with many of the additions they experimented with in TF2, for instance; Dota 2 has dozens of characters to choose from as well, with buyable skins. It seems only logical that L4D3 will adopt some of these features and/or expand upon them.
Having multiple characters can offer L4D gamers a choice rather than getting stuck with a character you don't like.
The only drawback would be having to record multiple lines of dialogue for each survivor which can add to costs and development, but if done properly I don't see why it couldn't be done.
This is why I say Valve should not listen to the community for ideas regarding Left 4 Dead 3.
I'm glad they pretty much aren't.
I dont care if they use the same survivors as 1 and 2. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3 man team of after the l4d1 survivors escape. Like is the island clean? or did they run into more.
...You mean, All those Community Survivors will have their own place on the roster? If that had happened, my mind would be trying to convince me that I have, in fact, died and gone to heaven when obviously I would be still alive...Rex Bellator, you are, to quote TF2's Heavy, "Credit To Team!"
