===================================
I'll start with mod related problems, then non-related: *FIRST OF ALL*...No, the stupid answer of "use less mods!!!" is not a answer to any type of problem, I play with 30+ mods + sourcemods plugins and hosts a local server, most of the time it doesn't crash... *if*...
*1)Mod(s) get updated randomly by the author, thus breaking any compatibility with anything else you have tested before.*
[This is most often the most common problem when using mods, specially scripts, if you find an author, like MANACAT for example, who makes great scripts and never updates them, you are good to go.]
*2)Using skins with a larg amount of vertices or effects, like the DMG ones(a.k.a.FULL 4K 1080P HIGHRES).*
[This causes games to crash specially when punced by a hunter, the only way to know if the game will die is a)is the skin super duper high res or 4k? b)does the skin comes woth RNG systems?Some games die, some won't with RNGs.]
*3)Leaving multiple campaings active while playing either default or custom maps*
[Most maps comes with costum scripts, contents, musics and skins for weapons and monsters, this -will- causes problems if you activate them all and tell your game "Hey!Use all this stuff at once!!", only activate what you will play, it's better to make sure you won't get a CTD(crash to desktop) then to have a surprise]
*4)Mods that actually conflitcts with one another but they don't show in red on the list.*
[Always read what mod does what, some modders out there leave(mostly by accident I hope)a lot of unused or just wrong content inside their .VPKs, or some scripts just breaks others, it's a lot of stuff wich I will not get into in here but suffice to say, if you get a mod that needs N item to work and you get another that breaks that N, the game will most probably die. If you get a mod that doesn't mark as red(conflicting) in the Addons list and your game crahses is most likely the latter mods you got, so keep an eye out]
*5)Using Sorcemod without knowing what you are doing...or putting, in your game*
[You have to make the right combinations of plugins in your game or else it won't even load correctly]
These are the most common ones, there are a lot of them so if you are modding your game and you are having problems, let us know...if not:
=====================================
Most common problems not related to mods:
*1)You are using configs too high for your PC, lower your graphics.*
[This game worked wounders for a decade before they decided to update the game with the Last Stand thing, now we have a lot of unheard problems like this now.]
*2)You are playing in a server with heavy scripting that either makes your PC kills the game due to lack of memory or video memory.*
*3)Check if your video card needs to get another version for the driver...AND DON'T UPDATE AFTER YOU FIX IT!!*
[Self explanatory, if isn't broken, don't fix it.]
*4)You are using a lot of programs and memory ad once while you play, killing your memory and CPU.*
[This often happened with me back when I didn't optimized my Windows 10 with Tron Script, the PC just killed some games like Skyrim and Left 4 Dead due to the lack of memory, close antiviruses and the internet browser when you game if you don't debloat your PC of the useless softwares running in the backgroun!]

*Bonus problem that everybody playing L4D2 suffers with:*
The motherf*ing "Validate Game Files"....L4D2 is the only game in existance(as far as I know) that just "looses" random files from the game whenever you play, modding or not, so just go ahead and:
>Steam
>Library
>Right-click L4D2
>Properties
>Local Data
>Validate Game Files"
Why this happens, how this happens, no one knows, and if someone knows I never found an definitive explanation.It's a simple problem that can be solved with a few clicks.I rather have this than constant updates that breaks and nerfs our beloved games every f*ing week.
As I said, I'm not an expert, but these must be one if not multiple reasons why your game is dying.
Hope this helps buddy, have a good one.
If you start playing a match without finishing loading those mods, crash will occur by chance. One of the common crash is when you're about to kill a charger.
