Alt tabbing lag
I've been having issues with alt tabbing for quite a while now. If i am mid game and alt tab to quickly check something out then back the sound stutters and the game starts lagging horribly. The only way to fix this is to restart the game. This never happened before the TLS update but now this happens every single time. It's frustrating. I'm not exactly sure it has something to do with the hardware and i honestly doubt that since my laptop is more than enough to run this game. I always get around 170+ frames with 130+ on some occasions so the hardware can't be the issue. Does anyone have a solution/encountered this before?

I have encountered this before because I often alt-tab while gaming, other valve games like CSGO also have this problem so you are definitely not alone.

The best way to overcome this issue is to run the game in borderless windowed mode, and it should be fine afterwards. The only downside is that you cant adjust the ingame brightness but you can work around it by adjusting the brightness in your control panel settings.

I have run the game extensively in both fullscreen and windowed mode and so far I don't see any difference in fps/performance, for me at least.

Thanks for your input. Sadly, that's not an option since fps seems to take a significant dip below 60 on some maps. Why? No idea, but tbh, i've tried borderless in many games and i've ended up worsening my fps. It works, but the trade off is not worth it. Hopefully there's another way to deal with this. Either that, or my hardware is not as good as thought it was even tho i run this game fairly well. 120 constant fps means something after all.

I've searched online, you could try doing what OP does in this thread:

maybe launch options play a part too, for me I use these settings so its worth a try:

-novid -high -useallavailablecores +sv_consistency 0

I already use them. But thanks anyway.

It's working! I did Uninstall of L4D2 and then install it. The Alt Tab is working!
