Gore doesn't work for some reason (solved)

Here i was trying to play this game after a few long years, set up a few addons, only to find out that gore isn't there for some reason. Well, not some reason, the l4d2 infected are simply not there, only the l4d1 models (why the ♥♥♥♥?) which don't support the l4d2 dismemberment. but it goes even further, i can't shoot off their limbs, and if i shoot their head, it doesn't explode properly even at least like it did it l4d1, it just disappears. I tried turning off every addon i downloaded, and verified the game's cache, it did not help. The issue happens regardless of the mode, map, whatever. I'm lost at this point. In settings gore is also enabled to high. My game version isn't censored or anything.

okay, now that i've made the game work again, i installed the addons back, aaand ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the game up again. great.

yeah, yesterday i've managed to narrow the problem down to just a few mods, and the sad part is they are the ones i'm most interested in

okay, i found the mod that was breking the game, it's one of the popular custom campaigns "The Hive". really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sad, wanted to play it bad, but don't want to go through the process of reinstalling the game again. i see someone else reported the same issue under it two weeks ago. hopefully the author will do smth about it.

Yeah, i помню, что тоже его скачивал. Попробуй делать то, что я советовал, когда пройти захочешь. После отключения мода игру перезапускай игру и всё нормально должно быть.

This seems to depend on the server you're connecting to - I had the same problem when using best available instead of official servers. Apparently I got connected to a german or whatnot server which doesn't allow for gore and the zombies would just fade away as pixel storms.
