menu screen red-eye?

i just noticed this now, after the game loaded and went to the main menu, it uses the dark carnival setting and occasionally i see something lean out from the wall in the middle of the screeen and it seems to have red glowing eyes. is this new or have i just never noticed that before? reminds me of Sam Shepards night vision or the witches eyes

I don't think anybody knows for sure what that creature is. I think it's just a zombie with a cool effect added to it.
