From there, everyone should have a secondary weapon that covers their weaknesses, so shotgun people should have a magnum to conserve ammo + pick off targets at a distance, and rifle people should have a melee weapon to handle hordes and tight spaces.
I personally like playing the role of the shotgun/magnum dude, but I think a team of 4 people with the exact same setup is bound to fail. L4D is all about teamwork, so it's important to think about how everyone's setup works together.
Problem is even if i try expert and get grabbed by special infected
By the time bots notice, il be long dead
But damn
When 3 specials on you, chances of beating all 3 are 25%
You have no idea how many times jockey, charger and hunter gangbanged me
I mean charger is easy to dodge but hunter with his damn jumps
And specials always spawn in front of the one whos rushing alone
So now i mostly stay third in the back
true was just creating a bit of a conversation tho and kinda just bringing up the fact regardless of how bad a weapon is you can still live with it in expert
can even survive with the scout
AK47 has slightly lower DPS than shotguns (obviously), but can reliably hid mid-range targets.
For secondaries: either Magnum, because it can oneshot special infected no matter where it hits and you can use while downed - which you're probably will be at one point or another.
Either that, or some of the better melee weapons like Katana or Machete (their most important trait is that they are fast and allow to deal with many infected at once).
Ultimately though what matters most on expert are utility items. Weapon choice is not going to be of much help on Dark Carnival's pre-finely suicide rush.
Guns, melees... You're just gonna get bum-rush by the infected either way. Probably the worst map on expert.
A single bile bomb is what you need to beat that level, and it just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥' happens that NOT ONE spawns on this map, only in previous ones, which someone will have to carry one through the entire campaign just for this. Multiple pipes will do too, albeit they are not as efficient.
Playing this game without a melee weapon is very difficult for me, but many people go with the deagle. I'm pretty good at fighting a close range and pushing stuff back so that I rarely take damage. Most people don't ever want to use a melee weapon.
Either way, no matter what you choose to do, just make sure you keep the infected at a distance because the infected are generally how the S.I.s are really able to pry their way into your team. Most S.I. attacks generally catch people off-guard solely because people suffered the Commons to live.
