Why does this fail sometimes? Also, why are console commands and CVAR changes not considered a norm? The best of the game is in making the changes YOU want! It should be an officially celebrated and supported feature of MOST games yet it's not.

Left 4 Dead 2 always says "go to the main menu and use map mapname to start your own listen server so you can use sv_cheats 1". I NEED sv_cheats 1 to change the CVARs to my liking yet it still won't work despite using the MAP command from the main menu. Sometimes it just randomly decides to stop responding to the sv_cheats 1 command and the fact that I DID start a listen server with the MAP command! Is there any reliable fix to this? I need it to JUST WORK without having to restart the game and rolling the dice hoping it'll work "this time".

You can use commands in the console and change cvars to the style as an admin with these mods:

You use it in any game mode in local server and inside the server you write the commands in the chat or console. Or also using the letter i for the admin menu.

I'm glad you liked it. Also remember that you can use a server.nut file in the vscripts folder located in scripts. That allows to modify the game mode such as remove, replace, add items, limit the infected, and much more.

You can use a file called "server.nut" to make a few additional changes to your game.

Step 1: Download the server.nut file here[www.dropbox.com].
Step 2: Place the server.nut file in left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/scripts/vscripts.

You can open the file using a text editor, and make changes and additions to whatever you prefer. For a list of more functions you can check the L4D2 VScripts page, or EMS page.
