Bring back the "No." when incap Francis pls
That was the best bug the game ever had the "No." when incaped was just a masterpiece, it truly seemed like that was it's original intend instead of a response "No" I don't know why did they fixed it, if they just looked for one second they would've known that a lot of people liked it :steamsad::steamsad::steamsad::steamsad::steamsad::steamsad:

Luckily though, unlike many of these sorts of changes, this one SHOULD be easy to "fix" on your own side if you're attached to it:
Go to your steam folder, then go to:
steamapps/common/Left 4 Dead 2/left4dead2_dlc2/sound/player/survivor/voice/biker

1. Copy the file "no01" and paste the copy.
2. Remove the file "incapacitatedinitial01" from the folder (keep it somewhere safe if you want the option to manually revert it for some reason, but verifying your game cache through steam will fix it again otherwise).
3. Rename your new copy of "no01" to "incapacitatedinitial01".

Now the "I'm Down" line will be replaced with "No..." exclusively for your ears only. At least, theoretically anyway. I used to use this barebones modding to use custom music in both games back in the day and replace a few random dialogue lines with stuff from that Left 4 Speed parody video and it all worked fine and didn't clash with official servers or anything back then. I sort of "grew out of it" and don't have any of that on my current install of the game but I assume it would still work following The Last Stand Update.

P.S. For bonus ridiculousness, use "no08" instead.

because it doesn't make sense that someone calmly say "no" while going down and injured.

Looked where? This is the first time I've even heard of it, much less the hordes of people who wanted it kept in.

Tbf even if it was a bug and it dosnt make sense to just be like "No." when takeing some hit thats suppost to be fatal or something

The fact that francis is ment to be the though guy and would hold back any scream of agony etc

Him being like "No" reallly fits into his charecter and his temptation to keep his tough guy act up

Besides i liked it aswell Despite being some bug (how dose that even happen anyways)

Not hordes of people, but I've seen some threads about it, they said it was cool and I thought it was really funny, some bugs needed to stay, and the ridicously big view models, bad experiences keeps players engaged for some reason and you need to look no further than League of Legends, I liked some bugs, and the shortcuts had some risk reward to them

My friend who plays as Francis genuinely liked this touch, how it made Francis still seem defiant even on his way to the floor. When he pointed it out I actually got a good laugh out of it. Was this not intended? If it was intended, then it shouldn’t have been taken out.

It was pure casuality that it was that specific line, it could it been anything, like a "Hello" or something more like "Bite me Colonel Sanders"

someone mod this back
Xanaguy May 24, 2021 @ 12:55am
This bug originated from an audio file mismatch in the sound script. Francis will now always say “I’m down” instead of “no” upon being incapacitated.

So bugs being fixed are contingent on whether a few people like them or not. With that logic Valve should scrap bug fixing all together, as someone somewhere will get pissy if the game isn't breaking to their liking.

There are a lot of good thing that have came of bugs or errors in the industry, l4d2 has a lot of bugs that the community use as a mechanic, I don't thing shove cancel was something that valve had in mind, neither the ability to mess your hit box with the hunter by punching and then moving the camera while going to the previously aimed place, there are a lot of bugs that they aren't going to fix because they are now set in stone in the l4d2 community, why this little funny frase that doesn't hurt anyone can't be one of them?

Probably because it's low-hanging fruit within reach of the TLS team.

Basically proved my point. Any bug that they try to remove will get people asking "Why can't we just keep this one? It's my favorite."
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

if you want to make sound replacement mod to restore "no", make sure the new sound have EXACT same length as the original sound that you want to replace, otherwise, the sound will glitch out (loud scratching sound)

The problem is that the Subtitles when you have them enabled would say "I'm down" while the voice said "No" and this was in L4D1 as well so this WAS a bug a bug that never got fixed, as much as I found it funny it gets old after a while and given its been around THAT long it was time for it to be addressed!
