Try walking up to it with your flashlight on, then throwing a bile bomb at it. Then keep hitting it with a melee weapon.

You can throw a molotov on the witch if she is sitting down because when she is sitting, she will run slower than the speed at which the survivors can run, so you can pretty much outrun her until she burns to death, maybe not the best idea if you don't want to waste a molotov.

- Spas / Chrome are better than Tactical / Pump, but anything works

Easy / Normal:
- Turn your flashlight off and clear the area of commons
- Crouch directly behind (preferred) or directly in front of her
- Wait a moment for her to be halfway standing up
- Aim center mass at her back or chest when you shoot
- If you have a tier 2 shotgun you may as well spam the trigger, if you fail the crown you can still land a successful shot before she downs you

Advanced / Expert:
- Turn your flashlight off and clear the area of commons
- Crouch directly in front of her
- Wait for her head to raise up past yours as she stands up
- Aim for her chin/mouth, to blow your entire shell upwards into her head

If you don't have a shotgun you can always melee her twice and dodge her swipe, although it's pretty much left up to the machinations of fate if she's a sitting witch and you have a slow melee weapon.

As suggested by others before, using a shotgun to blast a witch and making sure each pellet hits her head area is the most reliable way of killing her without getting downed. Obviously, this is easier with an auto shotgun than a pump shotgun.

If the witch is walking around in the daytime, you can use a chainsaw to achieve the same effect, as her reaction time to getting hit is far longer than it is during the night, which gives you enough time to shiv her spine with that chainsaw. Don't try this at night; you WILL get downed immediately.

A full magazine of explosive rounds on just about any weapon should stun and kill her in one go. Even if you don't kill her with a single magazine you'll have enough of a head start to finish her off. A propane tank explosion can also stun her momentarily.

If you have a molotov cocktail you can try to sweat her out from a distance. Throw that grenade at her when you're far enough away, then fill her full of lead before she catches up to you! This can also be done with fire bullets or a gas can.

You also have the option to simply move around and avoid her, if her position isn't too obstructive. Most of the time however she'll spawn right in your way.

don't aim for the head unless you are on realism mode (where you can kill her with multiple shotgun headshots), instead on campaign / versus you should aim towards her back while she is sitting. This will make the shotgun hit her back and go through to hit her legs.

Aiming from the front works too but I feel the easiest method is behind because you have more chance for error if you miss or upset her, because it takes her longer to turn around and claw you.

Overall, fire is your best friend for dealing with the Witch because honestly fire in this game is ridiculously OP.

You're wrong brother. You can never crown a Witch on Realism mode, even if you keep spam-shooting her head with an Auto Shotgun. About campaign mode, you must hit her head with a shotgun blast in order to kill her on Advanced / Expert difficulty. Insta-killing her by shooting her back / belly, works only on Easy and Normal difficulty.
