Please help me

It's been like 2 months since I last played, then I opened my steam, updated it and all... and then when I opened the game, my main menu was empty, no options seen, only the background with the zombies could be seen, but when I pass the mouse over the screen, I can hear the sound of the options, as if they're there, but I can't see or click them. Please heeeelp y'aaaaall.

I have close to the same issue. Unfortunately, Valve will not provide any support for me as I am not running the correct 'flavor' of Linux. (I am using openSUSE Tumbleweed, NOT Ubuntu)

There are a few other oddities.
1. My avatar name is missing on the load screens. When attempting to load an online game, All avatar names are blank. You just see a series of commas. No names.
2. I cannot load either a single player or online map. Loading process gets to around 75% complete and the game crashes.
3. Menu items are listed but all values are not shown. If you click on an option, the setting will appear and you can make your selection but the main menu display is empty where the value should be.
4. When exiting the game, the entire screen looks different. More like a menu instead of the usual dialog displayed in the center of the screen.
5. L4D2 will show 'Validating' every time I restart the Steam client. Every. Damn. Time.

I was playing around and found that the game actually runs and looks fine if I specify to use Proton under compatibility. Most of the above issues disappear and one new one appears. I am unable to load a multiplayer game. I get the following error:

"Connection Blocked
Please remove plug-ins before attempting to connect to a VAC server."

I have no plugins. Single player maps will load and play fine.

I have tried uninstalling, wiping all files and re-installing w/o success.

In case anyone is wondering, I am at build ID: 6872237 with last updated date of: June 18, 2021. Game has been busted since then.

You might want to include some more information in your post (such as if any mods are installed, what operating system is on, or if you did any major changes to your computer since you last went on the game). I recommend posting your issue on the bug thread.

True, this is a major issue for linux users if that were the case for all linux OS. You might want to report this issue asap in bug thread so that the devs will fix it.

Since the last time I Updated, 3 days ago.
I unistalled the game, the Steam, Restart my PC, checkd my Video Card, and nothing happens...

I know this will not help you, but I want to discover what's going on too.

Yeah, same man...
I am a Windows 7 user, maybe that's why after the update it started doing this.

I use Windows 7, no mods at all, it was after the update that this problem surfaced.

Go to this thread. We have found the solution there. It used to happen to me too, but now it is fixed for me.

Hey King-c. I really appreciate you passing this along to me. Unfortunately. This did not work for me. I have a GTX760 and tried passing the ID in the post as well as my ID from lspci:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104 [GeForce GTX 760] (rev a1)
Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. Device 2768
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia
