Can a single Magnum shot break the Tanks rock?

Ok man, no matter how many times I see this clip, I think the only thing that could have possibly broken the rock here is my Magnum.

I think they can. Those rocks are pathetically weak so I couldn't be surprised if a single pistol shot broke it.

what i like to do is stand behind sharpie so the rock hits him instead of me, that way i'm protected.

sure, you'll feel a bit guilty when he uses his health kit but you just have to think about how much worse it could be. it could be your own health kit being consumed if you missed that shot on the tank rock.

Anyway I guess you can indeed break the rock with a single magmun shot. Since it has 50HP I guess you would need 2 with the normal pistols, interesting.

You would need good actual aim to do it, and that the hitbox actually works with you instead of against you.

Tank rock has 50 health, Magnum deals 80 damage. So on paper, yes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some downward damage multiplier coded into the game specifically to make the magnum not one-shot rocks.

I think the general idea behind it was that the bullet was fracturing the rock and thus it doesn't need a lot of health, plus you wouldn't be able to feasibly shoot the rock with enough damage in the time you have without a sniper. So it makes sense why they designed it with low health.

Lorewise the rock is just splintering into smaller pieces that the survivors are somehow immune to I guess, and gameplay wise its there to facilitate players shooting the rock without having to bring a sniper in preparation so that t1 weapons and even the magnum are viable for it.

Baiting a rock through helps also, once you master it, you'll never have to worry about rocks again, aside of course, being inconvenienced, then maybe this situation would be needed, otherwise not really needed no

this is true but there are times where your movement may be impeded, wandering commons are a great example. Cover isn't always there to help too, sometimes shooting the rock is the best play. Especially within Versus where a landed rock can extend how long you fight the tank, so removing the threat of the rock entirely rather then hoping all 3 of your teammates avoid it is a very safe play.

I would really like if they added some sort of smoke when you hit the rock or something at least, you have no clue if you are hitting the rock or not, and the hitboxes of this game are so broken that I some times have no clue
