The Last Stand Map is Terrible.
The Last Stand campaign map was absolute garbage. It not only looks like trash, it plays like trash. How on earth did Valve pass this and make it an official update?

There are some places which appear to be strange copy-paste areas from the "Dam-it" Map, the unfinished official map from L4D1. (For instance, the plane that flies over and the burning forest area). Unfortunately this "New" map has poorly made burning trees and other assets that just don't fit. Textures are off and unaligned... the whole thing just looks so lame for an official update!
The map re-uses a bunch of the same "Fix the generator" and "Gas filling minigame" events from so many other maps. How is this supposed to bring any value to the game?

I have heard the news on the drama behind the update, and I can CLEARLY see it's all true. It's a complete shame that the game took a turn in this direction. (Even farther from what I already disliked, I'm a die-hard L4D1 player even today.)

I feel bad for all of the L4D2 players, honestly.

Literally anything is better than those.

Timed switch flipping between teammates.

Throwing and then shooting at explosive items (Such as propane tanks) to destroy a pile of breakable props in the way.

Risky teammate sacrifices (such as in the sacrifice) to where one player must activate something while the others stay behind and attempt to keep them alive.

Do I need to keep going or did you realize that it's a video game and you can program and mod any idea you have?

I want to see you make something better, com on now, surely it can't be that hard??
The new map is also a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ middle finger to more opened maps and non-linear maps

remember the whole beta dev notes in l4d1 about the no mercy and the tunnel in death toll was it going out of the maitnence tunnel to the saferoom how they had to patch it out because testers kept getting lost so they made the map more linear.

Like no ♥♥♥♥ there's a big open circle where the restrooms are the RV the campsites. Then the final push with the stupid gas cans being miles away from generator and hold out areas. And the finale being a literal run for the final boat ride. Most people getting near low health or hanging by a thread that 1 hit from a tank or a couple of common infected will down you.

surprise people still defend this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update after all the evidence physical and chat logs presented to them but hey that's just b/c of the fanboy theory. If FO:76 the most colossal failure of the past 2-3 years in gaming still retains people who pay then anything is possible.

I didn't like the map, I didn't like the story, and I don't like what it stands for (pushing this update)
Other than that it can stay and I can ignore it's existence.

true

VERY TRUE

no one's forcing you to play it but if you're one of those people who wants to do a game 100% or get most achievements it affects you alot more. But for the average person they can just skip it.

other stuff cannot be ignored though sadly and you gotta live with it unless the people who pushed this update fix or re-balance the game. I doubt they will sadly but who knows. If not them then actual competent modders will hopefully pick up the slack and add plug-ins or server add-ons to help fix this update like with fallout games.

Man you all really just want a walk in the park easy campaign. I've seen so many people whining about how difficult it is, when it really isn't that difficult. Y'all just aren't good at the game.
Last Stand is unfortunately one of the worst campaigns I've played. (Not worse than the trash that Crash Course has.) It's too short, too easy in campaign (despite people wanting it even easier for some reason). The generators go on way too fast in Versus meaning infected can't get into proper positions, billions of items on the finale and so much more.

For placement and assets, I don't really have an issue with them... just the difficulty and how short it is makes it lacking at best.

If you actually read what he said... He said a sacrifice type mechanic where a player is activating something while their teammates defend them.

Your OP: "Waaaa waaaa, the map just reuses existing stuff, it should've done something more original!"
Also you: "It could've copied The Sacrifice, or Dead Air. or done something that wouldn't work at all with bots".

What is it they say about everyone having opinions again?

Campaign could've been longer. Thematically the generator start-up thing (as someone pointed out) is a bit weird, but as an event it works fine.
The change-up of the finale to have 3 phases and a dual tank spawn is cool, it's something different.

I agree with to many items, if you get a pipebomb spawn then don't have to do anything till the scavenge stage. I see people both sides saying it's too hard or too easy.
