Cant adjust my brightness option

My game is too dark and I cant get into the brightness options. Its grayed out along with Steam Controller but every other option works.

Open up video.txt with whatever text editing software you use (notepad, usually)

Right before the last bracket ( } ) there should be a line like

"setting.nowindowborder" "0"

Just below that add

"setting.mat_tonemapping_occlusion_use_stencil" "1"

Save (Ctrl + S) and close

Right click the file, go to Properties, and enable Read Only mode

I've been looking for a solution to this forever, I usually have -autoconfig in my launch options to solve it but this worked :D Thank you so much! Now I don't have to manually change my settings every time I launch.
