Is Last Stand canon? Let's discuss here
Greetings,

As we all know the Last Stand update is now live and many players like me enjoyed it but there is one question that remains

Is the campaign canon considering the events of the sacrifice and the passing? If so, then that means bill doesn't die and Valve can bring him back like they did with Eli Vance in Half-Life : Alyx and also another thing to notice is that this campaign takes place directly after blood harvest which further indicates the events of "The Sacrifice" are nullified which opens another can of worms and that is the passing campaign never happens and the l4d1 survivors never meet l4d2 survivors or maybe Valve can consider this another timeline in which bill lives and the l4d1 survivors take another path

What are your thoughts? I'd like to hear what the community has to say

I'm pretty sure the last stand chapters take place before the sacrifice chapters. It wouldn't make logical sense for them to release a update that magically makes Bill alive.

You also understand that the final map for the campaign was originally exclusively intended as a L4D1 Survival map HENCE THE NAME.

It takes place instead of Death Toll iiirc. You should even be able to see the lighthouse from the death toll campaign (even pre-patch, heck, even in l4d1 you can).

As such, it's not strictly canon, but it's not like death toll itself was mentioned much either, mainly the stuff on the boat which both of those campaigns end on so, up to you i guess?

It is a "What if" for Death Toll. This is way before "The Sacrifice" and I think you know it.

It wouldn't make sense to release an entire campaign after 10 years without any reason either don't you think? and if you look closely the campaign takes place after blood harvest because of the surrounding forests

I see that makes sense

The map's surroundings indicate this takes place in blood harvest if you ask me look closely next time you play and you'll think about it im sure

Its not, even the original The Last Map from L4D1 isn't canon, its an what if scenario if the original crew took a different route and took a turn for the worse.

They've blatantly said that last stand isn't canon.

L4D1 crews story ends with the passing and bill's death, afterwards taking a boat to an island somewhere.

Who is "they"? Valve? Because iirc Valve never outright acknowledges the canonicity of their games

This. However, the new Crash Course van at the start of Death Toll is acknowledged as canon.

In my playthrough with friends, every survivors died except Bill.
I guess that's canon.
