What’s the point of using the M60?
In comparison to the other Special Tier weapon (my “Baby” grenade launcher), I don’t see it being particularly useful aside from the fact that you can fire 150 rounds continuously. One other use is to combine it with frag rounds then stun every Special that you encounter (with the exception of the Tank) using just 1 round—including the Witch.

Other than that, it’s like firing a Negev then throwing it away afterward. :steambored:

I love the M60. I'm completely untouchable with it until the ammo runs out.

tank and events ... beside that: most useless weapon

+1 for 95% of the comment. The most useless weapon is debatable, the night stick is pretty useless.

Hmmm. The stick is very powerful. ... If you hit :rufusjoking:

I think the M60 and chainsaw are both designed to be throwaway, good in some scenario weapons... Like when a panic event starts and you need to push through the horde to turn off an alarm, not having to reload and blasting through zombies would be useful... But you'd have to use a secondary weapon and/or rely on your team to carry you to said event. Overall I'd say those 2 and the grenade launcher aren't worth using, they're mostly just for fun.

They are pretty good if you get fire and explosive ammo to get 150(?) special ammo, rather than the 40 or so you get with a normal semi-auto gun.
I gotta dissagree about chainsaw. Its by far most usefull out of the 3 imo, but its gimmicky. When you pull it out all the commons in a area are alerted and target you over teammates unless they are very near. Its amazing on any parts where you have to drop down, or any chokepoints. You just switch to it and everything in front starts running at you, getting some open areas clear easly. And on top it takes secondary slot so you dont lose anything having it.

Like no mercy map 2 you can switch to it while in safehouse and everything up to the stairs will come, or on the passing before you drop down into sewers if you equip it everything below will try climbing, making drop safe. It has so many uses i always grab it when i see it.

I'll use the Chainsaw more often because I never noticed the aggro. I don't think it is that great except for Hordes, but knowing that I can use it to draw aggro is great because before I had to either shine my light on the common for awhile or just put a shot into it and the chainsaw sounds like a much more useful tool for that.

I hate chainsaw. You’re a human pipe bomb and you’ll keep getting the horde too close to us. Lure your ♥♥♥♥ somewhere safe so I can heal in peace without getting raped by 20 commons and several boomers and hunters.

Keep in mind it alerts everything around, there's like a circle around you and everything within charges, so if you pull it out at wrong time some common you missed can run from behind. And i see many people treat it like melee weapon, pulling it out at last time and getting hit. There's like a 2-3 seconds delay before you can attack, but usualy you can shove twice and by then its ready to attack after switching it case of emergency.

And to adress what Red™ said, it definitly doesnt spawn specials, it may agro them though, but they just ran at you most of the time anyway. And naturaly if you just run around with it equiped every single common will rush you as soon as they hear it so its a bad idea. Just pull it out at choke, or horde, kill everything then back to primary. Hope you like it !

Exaggerating on the special infect part, but truth on the horde. If there’s a peace for like 5 seconds, somehow somebody on the team ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and bring horde for no reason. True story
I was on expert realism, I was low and just got revived. I was about to heal but some dude in our team, brought out a chainsaw to kill some commons. But instead of luring it away to safe spot, he brought the horde to us. I was hit millisecond before the healing animation was done. Revived and then some two lone common killed me. Valve really need to address that stupid 2 seconds frame and you can’t do anything for 1 seconds. You shoved a hunter, somehow he scratch you and you lost 40%. You just got up but you can’t do anything, some common infect run up to you, smack you down before you can even shoot.
I never really use the M60 at all too fire lol
I just got home from work earlier and holy f—this got a lot of comments! Thanks guys/gals, I’ll try to catch up haha. :steamhappy:
Messaggio originale di Red™:
it’s basically inaccurate version of 47 but you don’t reload with it
True that. Basically a disposable AK-47 lol. :steambored:
Messaggio originale di Rushi:
Its definitly the most situational special weapon. I only realy grab it when i know there will be panic event or some new weapons soon, whitch is rare. Only situation i can think of right now is on cold stream when you blow the barrels and need to rush the tunnel, there is m60 under the bridge. If you dont get messed up too mutch getting you can get to safehouse with ease.
I only grab it myself when I don’t already have my “Baby” and I can hear a nearby Tank. Or if the Tank is already there, I’ll run back to get it then annihilate him. :tank:
Messaggio originale di ggty:
How else are you to live out Rambo dreams?
Lol, true that.

I’m guessing you use it to mow down everyone while screaming “Versus is the Best!” :steamhappy:
Messaggio originale di supersand:
It is great for destroying a tank with hitscan. Much better then Nade Launcher for it cause you don't need travel time, or to arc shots, or to reload. Better for Chargers over the Nade Launcher too. Much like the Nade Launcher, you'll want Dualies or a Magnum with it and to only whip it out for specials, really large hordes, or times when you need to go fast.

I think of it as a burst damage weapon to pull out in bad situations, usually just an AK or even just a M4 or SCAR are good enough and are much easier to work with. However M60 is really useful in Versus, namely No Mercy 2 if there is a tank, and even if there isn't a tank it helps clear specials very fast when you are close. It can be decent on Realism modes too if you conserve ammo well but just a magnum works better.
That I can completely agree with seeing how quickly it can annihilate a Tank. :tank:

I just find it very situational though in Campaign/Realism considering the low ammo pool that it has. I can make my “Baby” last throughout an entire map until the rescue vehicle after picking it up by using 90% melee weapons; I can’t make the M60 last for even half that timespan. :steamsad:
Messaggio originale di Parrots:
When theres fire or explosive ammo it works good too but definitely situational.
Yeah, the explosive ammo works wonders on it. You can stun every Special that moves. :steamhappy:
