Two new DDoS attacks on my server that my server blocked
Hello,

Today my server was attacked using DDoS by a mad animal. He might be the same mad animal who followed my Steam ID and attacked me almost everyday for one year. But its hard to believe it is really him because that mad animal did not attack my server, for months, after he failed twice to DDoS my new server.

Here are the video links for both attacks:

First Attack:
https://www.twitch.tv/left4deadchannel/v/100509951

Second Attack:
https://www.twitch.tv/left4deadchannel/v/100510826

Here is the full video of all the games I was playing that contains both attacks:
https://www.twitch.tv/left4deadchannel/v/100518102

Here is the information that was displayed on my Server's logs for both attacks:

(D)DoS attack against your service
Nov 11 2016 12:29:31 PM PT

Our system responded to a (D)DoS against your service with a filter.

Target address: 74.91.123.74
Attack: a UDP flood containing SSDP responses
Filter duration: about 2 weeks

You can see that the attacker used two different methods to DDoS my server. The first attack did went through my server and we all got lagged out. Then the filter kicked in and blocked any similar attacks to my server. When the attacker realized that my server is blocking his attacks, he used a new method of attack, but the server's filter picked up the attack and blocked it.

You can see there is about 30 minutes between both attacks. Which means he was trying to use the first DDoS method for 30 minutes, but when he realized that it is not working, he launched a new DDoS attack mothod to see if it will work.

These mad animals needs to get punished for what they are doing. DDoS is a crime. It ruins profits of companies. The least thing Valve should do with these criminals is to ban them from using Steam. This mad animal probably is using a addiferent PC for DDoS than the PC he uses to play games on Steam because he does not want his account to be banned and lose all of his games that he bought on Steam, because his IP address was caught.

We already have enough mad animals that joins our games to team kill us. Now we have new types of mad animals who ruin our games using DDoS attacks instead of team killing us.

I have seen DDoS complaining threads on these forums before. Unfortunately , Valve does not seem to help people. In all the people that have come here , NONE were helped by Valve.

And who said that Valve's servers are protected? My current server that I am renting from NFO Servers is far more secured than Valve's servers. Valve do care about DDoS because it ruins their business, but it seems they are helpless to defend their servers from it.

This is because Valve is helpless when it comes to DDoS. It seems that their managers had good intentions when they created Source games. They thought people who play games are peaceful people. Either that or they just don't want to spend extra money to provide DDoS protection like "some" third party server companies do.

I rented a server before from GameServers.com, and that server was getting attacked like any public server I connected to. Then it finally stopped when I rented a server from NFO Servers. I will never leave that company. It seems that so many people know how to DDoS, and many of them follow people around to DDoS them every day.

I've only had a gameservers.com server get DDoS'd once, but they weren't very helpful about it. If you have a locally hosted server that you have full access to, you can set up access rules to filter out traffic, but otherwise you're at the mercy of your server provider.

GameServers.com is the most pathetic company I had ever dealed with in my entire life. When I first rented the server from them, and got attacked the first day I rented it, they hided the real reason why their servers are getting the lag. I kept opening tickets almost every 2 weeks because of this lag issue, which was caused by the DDoS, but they kept hiding the real reason to why this lag is happening.

I kept believing their lies about this issue for months until I was 100% positive that someone is following me and launching attacks against me. I sent them a warning message that I will unsubscribe from their service and switch to NFO Servers if they do not block whoever is launching DDoS attacks against my server. Yet they kept telling me that they are not detecting any DDoS.

NFO Server and GameServers.com both claimed that their servers are protected against DDoS. But GameServers.com has a very stylish website compared to NFO Servers. This is why I chosen GameServers.com instead of NFO Servers. My newbie thought was that if a company cannot make a good looking website to show their products then this company is garbage. This is what I though about NFO Servers when I saw their ugly looking website. Then I decided to give NFO Servers a try even though I wasn't convinced that this company is going to solve this problem I was having with this mad animal who followed me everywhere and launched his attacks against me for an entire year.

On the first day I rented my new server from NFO Servers I got attacked. I did not know that this was a DDoS attack because the game frozes completely and I could not even press Esc to exit the game, which is not something normal when DDoS happens, because you can press Esc and exit a game that is being DDoSed. Then when I checked the log file I discovered that I was DDoSed.

Game servers.com is a very bad company. They knew their server was getting attacked, they knew that. Yet they kept lieing and providing excuses to why this lag was happening to me. I would appreciated if they told me the truth by letting me know that I am being DDoSed. They don't even have a firewall for the user to block IP addresses on his own server. But NFO Servers has a firewall for the user to do that.

As for local servers, I do not host local servers for one main reason. A lot of people who connect to my local server gets high pings even though I have a very good Internet connection. They keep complaining about the lag. Few years ago when renting a server was not possible to me, I used to host my own server using a Local Server, but so many people were getting high pings even though I had good Internet connection. I also had other issues when using local server, such as random crashes.

Local Server is definetely not a solution to my problem. I depend on random players when I play any co-op game. Players who connect to my games if they are not satisfied with playing with me they will go away and will not come back.
