FOV? NOT VIEWMODEL FOV
is there really no way to change the in game fov. not just the fov of the arms and gun that is the viewmodel fov.

every mod or reccomended fix ive been given is a viewmodel fov, i really wanna play left 4 dead 2 but i cannot at the current fov

I’m afraid there isn’t much you can do. You can try using fov_desired 90 but that command only work for Tf2.

Bruh you made this exact thread 7 hours ago, and someone linked a guide to change it 'pernamently,,' as long as its not an official valve server, as it requires sv_cheats 1.

There's this menu mod that I use, it should add an FOV slider that you can mess with when you pause the game.

nope I'm not.

you cannot natively change fov in left (just like in DoD, tf2 or half life and basically any source game). Your best chances are sourcemod pluggins.
Maybe you can "trick" the game by using custom resolution settings but i don't know if it will work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu1135XUW5c

Did you follow every step of that pcgamingwiki guide? The files can't be text documents. You have to change the extension. Additionally, make sure that you changed the XX to a number like 100. Finally, make sure that you put -fov +fov in your L4D2 launch options.
