Tell that to valve
It does not make logical sense that a properly made suppressor, which is a convoluted barrel extension, should reduce accuracy, or in fact reduce damage as most games show. While we're at it, the M16A2 does not have a full-automatic fire mode, instead a 3-round burst. That doesn't matter to Valve, so everything they do with weapons is for variety and balance.
A real life inspiration for Silenced SMG is MAC-10 submachine gun, and this weapon is infamous for its inaccuracy. There is the saying that goes it can only hit people who are inside with you in the telephone box. So it does make sense that Silenced SMG is less accurate than the normal SMG.
Although weapon suppressor has a function which slightly increases its attached firearms' accuracy, but I guess that's not enough to make this weapon as accurate as normal SMG.
The Uzi has a slitghly better accuracy and spread, dumping the figures here for anyone interested.
In general I play UZI because I'd rather engage at long ranges than to detrain on the ennemies M1+W style, so having significantly more damages at maxrange and a more managable spread makes it perfect.
with Mac10 you run n gun all the way to the safe ggez.
