i lack knowledge to know what that is or does, need explaination
He's/She's saying the problem is that you're using a MAC and not a Windows PC. Go get a Windows PC. Other people also have ran into the same problem you have and those people who did also had a MAC, not a Windows PC. So yeah... get a Windows PC. :)
Here's a medkit for you.
like seriously i REALLY need a F*cking windows pc though but at the same time your really not helping
1. Download and use Windows OS on your Mac. You can open Windows OSand use Windows OS to game instead of Apple OS. This could be an easier route instead of getting a PC with Windows if you're broke.
2. Turn your graphics setting to the lowest. (One dude said he did this and it worked for him, but bad graphics.)
3. Go to your games on Steam, next right click on Left 4 Dead 2, then click properties, and last of all click on "Verfiy Integerity of Game Files".
Reason why I used "he's/she's" is because I'm shortening the wrods from using "is" and thought it'd be a better flow. Oh well, to each their own. Didn't know the first option needs dual-booting as I've never owned a Mac and all the sources are coming for other peoples discussion. Thanks for letting me know. Something nice to know and learn cause I may possibly own a Apple laptop or Mac in the future for programing and softwares I want to use.
Does your Mac tend to heat pretty fast or overheat when you're playing Left 4 Dead 2? What's your Mac specs? Another possibility could be your Mac overheating and crashing the game on you. If it's none of this or even your Mac specs, then I don't know what to say and do to help you anymore bud. All I can suggest you to do is what I said earlier if none of these help solves your problems. Either sell the Mac and get a new Windows PC that can handle games up to date or save up for one.
You're welcome. Did what I could to help.
I'm having this too, Vaccine, have you found anything that works? I'm considering doing a bootcamp windows partition for windows or a virtual machine for windows
Knowing that, here's something to note: The game NEVER quits when "Wait for vertical Sync" is enabled. Problem is that if the game is set to max out @ 60 FPS the game is fairly sluggish and gameplay just overall sucks. This is both for PC and Mac.
So when it's on it never goes over 60fps but when its off I can get up to 275 FPS roughly.
If there was a way to get FPS up above 60FPS when vertical sync is on that would most likely resolve the issue.
Also with the errors that occur I have also noticed that they are not the same, so I think it is the programming from the producer that seems to be the issue here at least as of now. I have tried this on multiple Mac's and the same scenario occurs. The video cards I got in the computers are not the issues per say, as they are all top end video cards for the time, and since the app came out prior to 2010 it should have no issues handling the FPS or the graphics. Plus, the errors that show up are almost never graphics based. Yet, when vertical sync is off is the only time the game unexpectedly quits which is why people think its video card related, but this all primarily points to the game software, not the computer.
Literally no other game has these issues. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1,2, & 3 & Black Ops all work spectacularly with no lag or unexpected quits and those games you way more processing power than good ole Left 4 dead 1 or 2. It's just the game sad to say. And I have not for at least the last 3 years seen them come out with any fixes for it nor do I expect them to do so sad to say.
I love this damn game and hope that they fix it, but am not holding my breath as if there is no money behind it, generally people do not go the distance with these games, especially years after their release. It's like asking them to make a 64 bit version fo the game for Catalina. Sites online say that they are going to, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. I hope I am wrong but statistically that has not been proven to be the case for games of this age.
