I would like to say that Downfall is a better choice for bot improvement on both sides of the scale. It even features some new and enjoyable mechanics. Sadly it had to be taken off the workshop then re added due to l4d2 authoring tools bugging out and refusing updatability. So Rest in peace 1460 + subs.
Most of the time bots do not move infront of a player unless that player walked backwards and began shooting. A common example would be the backwards run and gun against tanks. Their programmed to keep a set distance from human survivors and will not go past that limit unless they are threatened or the human player moves backwards and not enough distance to trigger a reposition.

Yeah, sadly it started to go lowkey ever since that issue I mentioned earlier. Strange you didn't hear about it though, It was under the top mods and on the front page of the workshop in late april this year.
From googling it, that looks like an extremely unfair and broken mod. Giving bots shields that regenerate and allowing them to see specials / commons through walls. It even respawns survivor bots after death. That is not better for a normal player wanting to play the game normally. It sounds like a major crutch for terrible players and could quite possibly make them worse at the game. No offense ment to anyone who uses it.

Besides that the bots have improved their reaction time, it also improves the special infected ones. Just as the smoker and boomer react faster, hunter and jockey jump a little higher, the tank improved its rock throw, etc.
Also for more we want to improve them as humans, it is difficult to guide them faster. When you are in a holdout situation, that is, keep and eliminate all the zombies in the area, everything is fine. But at the time of fleeing fast without stopping they are not able to rush very fast and always fall behind. And if they stop harder they save you.
You should try Downfall. It does bots even better than improved, competitive, and etc.
