Nice if you like Razer, but isn't licking something you do if you have a love relationship?
Even try it in steam aswell, go into: Steam > Settings > Voice
and test your microphoen there, make adjustments if neccessary.
You could also try and update your drivers (of the mic) and see if that works. Drivers can be found by typing "device manager" and then updating the microphone (or atleast check for updates)
Make sure to also ensure it's enabled in the L4D2 settings (ingame), I want to assume it should work, but you never know.
go to the Privacy part of Windows settings, then navigate to the "Microphone" tab on the "App permissions" list to the left.
now TURN ON "Allow apps to access your microphone" and you are done ^^
this was what helped me a while ago after a certain win10 update.
Since 2013, we had countless issues with the microphone in this game, we don't know why. It could be Microsoft or Valve's fault, we don't know. Also, keep in mind that Left4Dead2 is a 32-bit game, and most of the players use Windows 10 64-bits today. So, yeah...
Strangely enough and believe it or not, the only way to fix it is to restart the game at least one or two times, and when you try to test your microphone settings after that...
TADAAA!... it works again, finally!
I don't see Voice in steam settings???
this is a 2018 post..
also its in options > audio can then check your settings there, if youve plugged in the mic after opaning the game you have to restart it (or atleast thats the case for me) to properly ajust it
There is no "voice" option in Steam settings. What the guy failed to elaborate is that you have to open your friends list in Steam, then click on the cog symbol for settings, and then select voice from the left-hand list. You can then test your microphone.
If your headset has a mute button MAKE SURE IT IS SET TO TALK (instead of mute)
And the troubleshoot solution: This guy has put up a step by step vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKcb5IBp9UE -- It fixed my issue.
And finally, why the old bump? Because this thread comes up #1 in google search for "Why is my mic not working in [ steam game ]?" Perhaps this post will help others going forward.
Indeed it is strange, I reloaded the game 3 times in a row trying to debug it and the third time it magically worked.
